Viral Video: Man Sets Hero Splendor Motorcycle On Fire To Survive Delhi's Chilling Weather
In an attempt to find respite from the cold Delhi winter, a man resorted to setting ablaze a motorcycle. This act was not only a desperate bid to beat the cold but also a stark reminder of the lengths to which people might go when faced with extreme weather conditions.
This unusual incident took on Thursday in Delhi's Pul Prahladpur vicinity. According to the video, Kumar, a local resident, was seen deliberately lighting the sack resting on a Hero Splendor bike using a matchstick. Afterwards, he was seen standing beside the fiery two-wheeler to soak in the warmth.
However, the owner of the motorcycle and a neighbour, awakened by the sight of flames, were quick to alert the authorities. Police received the distress call by 4:37am and rapidly dispatched a team to extinguish the fire, aided by the fire department.
By the time the flames were quelled, the motorcycle had been reduced to ashes. Utilizing CCTV footage, the police swiftly apprehended Kumar from his residence. During questioning, Kumar revealed to the police that the biting cold had driven him to commit the act of setting the motorcycle on fire.
The police have booked Kumar under section 435 of the IPC, which pertains to mischief by fire with the intent to cause damage. Kumar, a mason by trade, resides with his family in the same block where the incident transpired.
Witnesses of this bizarre incident also claim that Kumar was seen seated in an auto-rickshaw near the scene before the flames erupted. Meanwhile, the authorities are conducting a thorough inquiry into the case.
Furthermore, Kumar was also subjected to a medical examination to determine whether he was under the influence of any intoxicating substances at the time of the incident. He is currently undergoing further interrogation to ascertain the full details of the event and his state of mind.
