Ninja 500 Takes Over From Ninja 400 In Kawasaki India's Latest Move: All Details Here
Kawasaki India has officially ceased the sale of the Ninja 400 in the country, removing it from the company's website. This move comes as the Ninja 400 makes way for the new Ninja 500.
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 is priced at Rs 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom), matching the price of the discontinued 400. This new model is imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), similar to its predecessor, and will be sold alongside the locally assembled Ninja 300, priced at Rs 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Ninja 500 is powered by a 451cc parallel-twin engine, an upgrade over the 399cc unit found in the Ninja 400. This new engine offers an increase in both power and torque, with specifications showing 45bhp at 9,000 rpm and 42.6Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm.
Notably, it maintains the same 6-speed gearbox but promises improved low-end tractability for riders. The Ninja 400, during its tenure in India, was known for its premium pricing, which limited its appeal and sales volume.
Towards the end of its sale cycle, dealers offered substantial discounts to clear remaining stock. The bike was known for its 399cc, liquid-cooled engine that delivered 44bhp and 37Nm of torque.

Building on the foundation of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 motorcycle retains the same chassis but introduces a revised version of the existing 399cc, parallel-twin engine.
The new engine, with its increased displacement and torque, along with a design that echoes the aesthetics of the larger Ninja ZX-10R, prepares the Ninja 500 to face off against competitors like the KTM RC 390, Yamaha R3, and Aprilia RS 457.

This strategic shift in Kawasaki's lineup, with the Ninja 500 stepping in to fill the gap left by the Ninja 400, reflects the brand's commitment to providing performance-centric motorcycles suited to a variety of riders, while ensuring their product range remains fresh and competitive in the Indian market.
