Kawasaki Set To Unveil KLX230 S In India: Likely To Rival Hero Xpulse
Kawasaki is expected to soon launch the 2024 version of the KLX230 S in India. This upcoming model from Kawasaki will directly rival the Hero Xpulse motorcycle, if the Japanese automaker manages to price the product in the right window.
The KLX230 S is powered by a straightforward 233cc, 2-valve, single-cylinder engine. Although Kawasaki's international websites do not list official power and torque figures for this model, the off-road-only KLX 230R S sold in India produces 20hp at 8,000rpm and 20.6Nm at 6,000rpm.

If the Kawasaki KLX230 S motorcycle achieves similar figures, it is expected to slightly outperform the Hero Xpulse 200 4V motorcycle, which generates 19.2hp at 8,500rpm and 17.35Nm at 6,500rpm.
Kawasaki KLX230 S Specifications
The seat height of the KLX230 S stands at 843mm, while its ground clearance measures 239mm. The US-spec model weighs around 133kg. However, due to legal requirements in India such as a saree guard, front number plate holder, and pillion grab rail, the Indian version is expected to weigh closer to 140kg.
Though a recent spy shot showed the model in a production-ready format, its launch might still be some time away. Moreover, Kawasaki India needs to address supply chain and production facility adjustments to accommodate this new model alongside existing ones like the W175 and Ninja 300.
Kawasaki's KLX230 S will be their third made-in-India model following the Ninja 300 and W175. This move indicates Kawasaki's growing focus on expanding its locally manufactured lineup in India.
Kawasaki has yet to announce an official launch date for the KLX230 S in India. However, these developments suggest that preparations are well underway for its introduction into the market.
DriveSpark Thinks
The anticipation surrounding this model highlights Kawasaki's commitment to catering to off-road motorcycle enthusiasts in India with locally produced options. As more information becomes available about the KLX230 S, potential buyers will be looking forward to seeing how it compares with other models in its segment.
This new addition is expected to enhance Kawasaki's presence in India's competitive motorcycle market by offering a robust off-road option tailored for local conditions. With these updates, Kawasaki continues to solidify its position as a key player in India's two-wheeler industry by expanding its range of locally manufactured motorcycles.
