Top 10 Best-Selling Scooters In India Record 37.08% Sales Increase In July 2024

The Indian scooter market experienced notable growth in July 2024, with the top 10 best-selling models achieving a 37.08% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Total sales for these scooters reached 5,19,113 units, up from 3,78,696 units in July 2023. This rise of 1,40,417 units highlights the shifting dynamics and growing demand within the market.

Honda Activa Leads the Market

Honda Activa maintained its position as the top-selling scooter in India with 1,95,604 units sold in July 2024. This marks a significant 44.54% YoY growth compared to the 1,35,327 units sold in July 2023. Activa's dominance is evident with a commanding 37.68% share of the total sales among the top 10 scooters.

TVS Jupiter also performed well, selling 74,663 units in July 2024. This represents a 12.38% increase from the 66,439 units sold in July 2023. Jupiter secured a solid market share of 14.38%, reinforcing its popularity among Indian consumers.

Suzuki Access and Ola S1 Show Strong Growth

Suzuki Access recorded impressive gains with a YoY increase of 37.87%. Access sold 71,247 units in July 2024, up by 19,569 units from the previous year's figure of 51,678 units. This performance gave Access a substantial market share of 13.72%, making it one of the top contenders.

Ola S1 showed remarkable growth among electric scooters with sales surging by an astounding 114.49% YoY. S1 sold 41,624 units in July 2024 compared to just 19,406 units in July 2023. This surge highlights the increasing popularity of electric scooters in India and gave S1 an impressive market share of 8.02%.

Electric Scooters Gain Traction

Bajaj Chetak saw an extraordinary increase in sales by a staggering 344.21% YoY. Chetak sold 20,114 units in July 2024 compared to only 4,528 units in July last year. This massive growth positioned Chetak with a market share of 3.87%, indicating a strong shift towards electric mobility.

TVS iQube also experienced significant growth with a YoY increase of 58.30%. iQube sold 21,064 units in July this year compared to the previous year's figure of just over thirteen thousand units (13,306). Its market share reached an encouraging figure of over four percent (4.06%), further highlighting the growing demand for electric scooters.

Steady Performance from Honda Dio and TVS Ntorq

Honda Dio continued its steady performance with a YoY increase of over sixteen percent (16.04%). Dio sold thirty-three thousand four hundred seventy-two (33,472) units in July this year compared to twenty-eight thousand eight hundred forty-five (28,845) last year. Its market share stood at six point four five percent (6.45%), showcasing its continued appeal among young riders.

TVS Ntorq posted modest growth with a three point eight three percent (3.83%) increase in sales YoY. Ntorq sold twenty-six thousand eight hundred twenty-nine (26,829) units this year compared to twenty-five thousand eight hundred thirty-nine (25,839) last year maintaining its position as a popular choice among performance scooters.

Suzuki Burgman and Yamaha RayZR Performance

Suzuki Burgman also recorded positive growth with sales increasing by thirteen point one eight percent (13.18%) YoY selling nineteen thousand eight hundred six (19,806) units this year compared to seventeen thousand five hundred (17,500) last year bringing Burgman's market share to three point eight two percent (3.82%).

In contrast Yamaha RayZR was the only model among the top ten scooters to experience a decline dropping by seven point one nine percent (-7.19%) YoY selling fourteen thousand six hundred ninety (14,690) units this year down from fifteen thousand eight hundred twenty-eight (15,828) last year holding two point eight three percent (2.83%) share of the market despite this decline.
