Indian Army's Women Rally On Bikes To Honour Kargil Vijay Diwas

Hon'ble LG of Ladakh, Brig (Dr) B D Mishra flagged off an all-women bike rally featuring 25 riders from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The event is part of a series organised by the Indian Army to honour their bravery during the Kargil War. The ceremony took place at the Hall of Fame in Leh, attended by Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla and Mr Vimal Sumbly from TVS Motor Company.

The rally includes 25 experienced women riders from across India, including serving women in the Armed Forces, military spouses, and civilian enthusiasts.

They will ride TVS Apache and TVS Ronin motorcycles. This initiative not only honours Kargil Vijay Diwas but also showcases 'Unity in Cultural and Ethnic Diversity'. Over 12 days, they will cover over 2,000 km across Ladakh's challenging terrain.

Highlighting Unity and Diversity

The rally aims to inspire youth, especially girls and women, through various events and interactions along the route. It seeks to motivate them to excel in all areas while demonstrating coordination between civil industry and the Indian Army. The riders will pay homage at war memorials throughout Ladakh.

Vimal Sumbly, Head Business – Premium at TVS Motor Company, expressed pride in collaborating with the Indian Army for the second consecutive year. He stated, "As an Indian, we take great pride in the Indian Army and their relentless service for the nation."

He added that TVS Apache and TVS Ronin motorcycles are well-suited for this challenging ride due to their performance, design, technology, and focus on rider safety and comfort.

Challenging Terrain

The rally will traverse some of Ladakh's most inhospitable terrains. Riders will cross Khardung La and Umling La, two of the world's highest motorable passes. The journey will culminate at the Kargil War Memorial. This route allows participants to commemorate the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces during the Kargil War.
