India's Motorcycle Market 2023-24: Hero Splendor Leads Amidst Diverse Preferences

This past year has seen some fascinating trends in bike sales, revealing the preferences and loyalties of Indian riders.
Hero Splendor: India's Favourite Ride
The Hero Splendor has once again emerged as the undisputed champion in the motorcycle market for the fiscal year 2023-24. This bike, often hailed as the heartthrob of the nation, led the sales chart with an astonishing figure of 32,93,324 units sold from April 2023 to March 2024.
Despite a slight dip in growth by 1.15% compared to its previous year's performance, the Splendor's popularity remains unmatched, even when scooters are considered in the tally.

Honda Shine: The Close Contender
Trailing behind but not far off is the Honda Shine, securing its position as the second most preferred motorcycle.
With sales reaching 14,82,957 units in the last financial year, it marked a significant leap forward from its past performance, underscoring its growing appeal among Indian riders.
Bajaj Pulsar: The Diverse Range
The Bajaj Pulsar series, known for its versatility ranging from 125cc to 250cc engines, grabbed the third spot. The anticipation around the launch of a 400cc variant only adds to its allure.
The Pulsar series witnessed sales of 14,10,974 units, showcasing a substantial increase and highlighting its enduring popularity.

Other Popular Choices
The fourth place was claimed by another Hero MotoCorp model, the HF Deluxe, with sales slightly dipping to 10,34,178 units.
Following it was the Bajaj Platina at fifth place, which saw 5,02,486 units sold. Both models reflect the diverse preferences of Indian consumers and their trust in these brands.
TVS Motors made a significant mark with two models in the top ten list. The TVS Raider and Apache sold 4,78,443 and 3,78,072 units respectively. Their performance underscores TVS's growing influence in the competitive Indian motorcycle market.
Nearing the end of the list but no less beloved are the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Hero Glamour. These bikes sold 3,22,370 and 2,35,219 units respectively. The Classic 350 continues to be a symbol of heritage and style while the Glamour caters to those seeking efficiency and reliability.
