Honda Conducts Road Safety Awareness Drive In Bengaluru, Impacting 1900+

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recently conducted a road safety awareness campaign in Bengaluru, Karnataka, reaching over 1900 students and staff members at St Sophia Convent High School and National Public School.

The campaign featured interactive activities such as safety riding theory sessions, danger prediction training, road safety quizzes, helmet awareness, and Riding Trainer sessions.

In line with its commitment to road safety, HMSI has been organizing awareness campaigns across various regions of India. These initiatives aim to provide essential information and guidance on safe driving practices.

Bengaluru is the latest city to benefit from this initiative as HMSI works towards equipping communities with the knowledge and skills necessary for safe navigation on the roads.

HMSI's CSR Commitment Towards Road Safety

In 2021, Honda made a global vision statement for 2050, striving for zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles. In India, HMSI is working in line with this vision and the Government of India's direction of reducing fatalities by half by 2030.

One crucial aspect of achieving this goal is fostering a positive mindset towards road safety in children by 2030 and continuing their education thereafter.

Road safety education at schools and colleges aims not only to create awareness but also to instill a safety culture in young minds, turning them into safety ambassadors.

This empowers future generations to become responsible contributors to a safer society. HMSI focuses on providing road safety awareness to all sections of society through unique ideas catering to each segment, from school kids to corporates.

HMSI's skilled safety instructors conduct daily programs at ten adopted traffic training parks (TTP) across India and six Safety Driving Education Centers (SDEC), making road safety education accessible to every part of society. The initiative has impacted over 5.7 million Indian citizens so far.

Scientifically Devised Learning Module

Honda's skilled instructors lay the foundation with theory sessions on road signs & markings, driver's duties on the road, riding gear & posture explanation, and safe riding etiquettes.

Practical learning includes a special training activity on Honda's virtual riding simulator for participants to experience over 100 possible dangers on the road before actual riding.

Interactive sessions involve danger prediction training known as Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT), which enhances rider/driver sensitivity to danger and ensures safe driving behavior on roads. Existing drivers can hone their riding skills through slow riding activities and riding on narrow planks.

HMSI expresses gratitude to the authorities of St Sophia Convent High School and National Public School for their support in organizing this important initiative. Together, they can make a significant difference in creating safer roads and reducing accidents.

Since its inception, HMSI has educated nearly 4 lakh adults and children in Karnataka while promoting responsible road usage and cultivating safe riding habits. Additionally, HMSI has reached more than 60 lakh individuals across the country with its road safety education initiatives.
