Bajaj Auto Debuts Chetak 3201 Electric Scooter: An Amazon Exclusive
Bajaj Auto has introduced a special edition of its Chetak electric scooter, named the Chetak 3201. This model is exclusively available on Amazon for an introductory price of Rs 129,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The Chetak 3201 boasts a range of 136km, surpassing the top-spec Chetak Premium.
The Chetak 3201 comes in a black finish with 'Chetak' stickering on the side panels and a two-tone quilted seat. It features a monochrome TFT as standard, which can be upgraded to a colour TFT through the 'TecPac'. The TecPac includes Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and two riding modes: Sport and Eco.

Strong Sales Performance
Bajaj Auto's Chetak electric scooter has seen significant growth in sales. In June 2024, it reached the milestone of 200,000 units sold in India. The company sold 66,512 units from January to June 2024, securing the No. 3 spot in the market behind Ola Electric and TVS Motor Co., with a market share of 13%.
The demand for the Chetak has surged recently. The last 100,000 units were sold within eight months from November 2023 to June 2024. This is a stark contrast to the first 100,000 units which took four years to sell. The highest monthly sales were recorded in June 2024 with 16,691 units sold.

Expanding Dealer Network
The increased demand for the Chetak can be attributed to ramped-up production and an expanding dealer network. Bajaj Auto plans to grow its presence from 164 cities and 200 touchpoints to around 600 showrooms within three to four months. Additionally, Bajaj Auto is set to launch a new mass-market e-scooter under the Chetak brand soon.
Despite its growing popularity, Bajaj Auto has not disclosed whether this special edition will be available in limited numbers or if it represents a new variant altogether. Currently, it remains exclusive to Amazon.

The Chetak EV's success reflects broader trends in India's electric vehicle market. In July alone, electric two-wheeler sales crossed 100,000 units after four months of lower sales figures. Overall EV sales in India jumped by 53% in July to reach 179,000 units.
Bajaj Auto's strategic moves with the Chetak have positioned it well within India's competitive electric scooter market. The company's efforts to expand its dealer network and introduce new models are likely to sustain its growth trajectory.
