Classic Legends To Launch New Challenger To Royal Enfield 650 Twins On August 15 – BSA Gold Star 650 Or Jawa

Classic Legends is all set to unveil a new 650cc motorcycle in India on August 15. This new motorcycle from Classic Legends is aimed at Royal Enfield 650 twins but it will use one less cylinder.

While this speculation may turn you towards the BSA Gold Star 650, we are not sure if Classic Legends will introduce this upcoming motorcycle under the BSA brand name. This is because the Jawa and Yezdi brands already have a good market presence and introducing a third brand is likely to cause confusion.

BSA Gold Star 650 Engine

That being said, what will come to India on August 15 is the BSA Gold Star 650 albeit with a different name. It could be even marketed as the 'Jawa 650'. However, we are not sure about this and we have to wait till the unveiling date for a confirmation.

However, what we are sure of is that Classic Legends has been comprehensively testing the BSA Gold Star 650 in India, and the company has finally decided to unveil the motorcycle to the Indian audience on August 15.

BSA Gold Star 650

Speaking about the BSA Gold Star 650, the model was launched in the UK back in 2022 and it was priced at GBP 6500 (Rs 6.62 lakh, approximately). However, in India, this model is expected to be launched with a much more aggressive pricing - Closer to the Rs 3 Lakh mark.

When launched, this upcoming motorcycle from Classic Legends will compete with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. In fact, the powertrain numbers of the BSA Gold Star 650 are quite similar to the RE Interceptor 650.

BSA Gold Star 650 Side

Looking at the powertrain, the Gold Star 650 uses a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve engine. This engine produces 44.27bhp at 6,000rpm and 55Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. Moreover, the BSA Gold Star 650 motorcycle is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox.

Other specifications include 18-inch wheels at the front and 17-inch wheels at the back, wrapped in 100 and 150-section tyres, respectively. Braking duty is handled by a 320mm disc at the front and a 255mm disc at the rear.

BSA Gold Star 650 Riding

It is also worth mentioning that the BSA Gold Star 650 comes with spoked wheels set up, and uses 41mm telescopic suspension at the front and a 5-step adjustable dual shock absorber at the rear.

That being said, despite the retro looks, the BSA Gold Star 650 is a through-and-through modern motorcycle with features such as an LCD display, dual-channel ABS, slipper clutch, USB charger, LED taillamp and more.

DriveSpark Thinks

Whether Classic Legends brings back the 'BSA' moniker or introduces this motorcycle under the Jawa brand, we are getting a very sweet motorcycle with proper British vibes. However, the success of this model will depend on the pricing.
