BSA Gold Star 650 Delivery Begins In India: An Icon Hits The Indian Roads

Classic Legends has started delivering the BSA Gold Star 650 to customers in India, just days after its launch. The iconic BSA brand was revived by Classic Legends in late 2021, and the Gold Star was introduced in India on Independence Day. The bike is priced between Rs. 2.99 lakh and Rs. 3.35 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the colour chosen.

The BSA Gold Star 650 is powered by a 652 cc single-cylinder DOHC engine with four valves and liquid cooling. This engine generates 45 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 55 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It features a five-speed transmission with a slipper and assist clutch. The motorcycle is manufactured in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, and is exported to various global markets.

Positioned to rival the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, the BSA Gold Star 650 offers similar pricing but stands out with its retro design and modern features. The engine's exterior mimics the classic look of the vintage Gold Star, appealing to enthusiasts who appreciate both timeless aesthetics and contemporary functionality.

The bike's suspension system includes 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear with five-step preload adjustability. It rides on spoked wheels—18 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear—fitted with Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres. Braking is managed by single discs at both ends—320 mm at the front and 255 mm at the rear—with dual-channel ABS from Continental.

Design and Features

The BSA Gold Star 650 boasts a round headlight unit and a muscular teardrop-shaped fuel tank that enhances its vintage charm. The mid-set footpegs and single-piece seat ensure a comfortable riding posture. Additionally, it features a side-mounted exhaust system and robust front and rear fenders that complement its classic look.

This retro-styled motorcycle is available in six colours: Highland Green, Insignia Red, Midnight Black, Dawn Silver, Legacy Silver Sheen, and another unnamed option. Built on a twin cradle chassis, it claims a top speed of 166 kmph. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres and weighs just over 200 kg.

Classic Legends' revival of the BSA brand with the Gold Star nameplate has been well-received since reservations opened on Independence Day. With customer deliveries now underway, enthusiasts can experience this blend of classic design and modern engineering firsthand.
