BMW R 1300 GS Launched In India: Prices Start From Rs 20.95 Lakh

BMW Motorrad has introduced the R 1300 GS in India, priced at Rs 20.95 lakh. This is Rs 40,000 more than the starting price of the outgoing R 1250 GS model. The new bike is available in four variants: Light White, Triple Black, GS Trophy, and Option 719 Tramuntana.

Engine and Performance

The R 1300 GS features a horizontally opposed, 1,300cc, twin-cylinder engine with a 13.3:1 compression ratio. It produces 143bhp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, up from the previous model's 132bhp and 143Nm. The bike weighs 237kg with a full 19-litre fuel tank, making it 12kg lighter than the 1250 GS, though it holds one litre less fuel.

Variants and Features

The top-spec Option 719 Tramuntana variant includes radar-assisted features like Active Cruise Control and Front Collision Warning. It also comes in an eye-catching Green/Yellow paint option with various milled metal components. However, it cannot be equipped with the Adaptive Ride Height (ARH) feature.

The Triple Black variant is the only model that can be optioned with ARH. All Indian variants come with cross-spoked tubeless wheels as standard, unlike international versions that offer alloy wheels or spoked rims.

Standard and Optional Packages

All Indian variants come with the Comfort and Dynamic packages, which include an electronic windscreen, bidirectional quickshifter, centre stand, and Pro riding modes. Except for the base Light White model, all variants also feature the Touring package, which includes pannier mounts, chromed exhaust header pipes, adaptive headlight, knuckle-guard extenders, and GPS device mounting.

Competitive Pricing

At Rs 20.95 lakh, the R 1300 GS undercuts the Ducati Multistrada V4 line-up (Rs 21.48 lakh–31.48 lakh) and the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special (Rs 24.64 lakh). The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro carries a lower price tag of Rs 19.19 lakh. Deliveries for the R 1300 GS are set to begin this month.
