BMW Unveils R 12 NineT And R 12 Motorcycles In India: A Blend Of Classic And Modern

The BMW R 12 nineT and BMW R 12 have introduced in India, available as Completely Built Units (CBU) with deliveries in September 202. The motorcycles are priced at INR 20,90,000 for the R 12 nineT and INR 19,90,000 for the R 12. These prices are ex-showroom and include but exclude other taxes and insurance.

Both models feature a classic design with a two-cylinder Boxer engine of 1,170 cc capacity. The R 12 nineT is designed as a retro roadster while the R 12 is styled as a casual cruiser. The motorcycles boast exemplary craftsmanship with a classic trellis frame, flatly arranged shock absorber, and revised engine periphery.

BMW R 12 NineT Design and Features

The all-new BMW R 12 nineT comes in Blackstorm metallic as standard, with optional styles like brushed aluminium/Night Black solid paint and San Remo Green metallic.

The BMW R 12 is available in Blackstorm metallic, Avus Silver metallic, and Aventurine Red metallic. Both models offer Headlight Pro, Keyless Ride, and Riding Modes as standard features.

Mr. Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, stated: "BMW Motorrad established the segment of classic bikes with the R nineT.

This particular segment invites purists riders who want to focus on the original, and at the same time enjoy dynamic riding. The all-new R 12 series takes this path of emotional, original motorcycle riding even further."

BMW R 12 NineT Technical Specifications

The new models are built on a versatile base featuring a one-piece tubular spaceframe. They include an airbox positioned flat under the seat and an angled spring strut for design freedom in seats and side lines.

The aluminium tank on the R 12 nineT has brushed side panels while the steel tank on the R 12 recalls the "Toaster Tanks" of the 1970s BMW /5 models.

The engines deliver robust performance; the R 12 nineT produces 80 kW (109 hp) at 7,000 rpm with a torque of 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The R 12 generates 70 kW (95 hp) at 6,500 rpm with a torque of 110 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Both models feature an air/oil-cooled boxer engine.

Both motorcycles come equipped with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) for enhanced driving safety during acceleration. They also include standard engine drag torque control and Tyre Pressure Control. The adaptive Headlight Pro light system offers increased safety during night rides.

The braking system comprises twin disc brakes on the front wheel with radially mounted four-piston monobloc brake callipers and a single disc brake on the rear wheel. ABS Pro is standard on both models for safer braking in bends.

BMW Financial Services India provides flexible financial solutions for customers to own these motorcycles. All BMW Motorrad bikes come with a three-year unlimited kilometre warranty that can be extended to four or five years. Road-Side Assistance ensures prompt services in case of breakdowns or towing needs.

The optional Comfort package includes Hill Start Control Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, heated grips, and cruise control for both models. Option packages like Option 719 "Aluminium" Style combine traditional looks with modern components to enhance aesthetics.

The all-new BMW R 12 nineT already features "Rain", "Road", and "Dynamic" riding modes as standard while the new R 12 offers "Roll" and "Rock" riding modes to tailor riding behaviour according to personal preferences.

The new Heritage models exhibit meticulous attention to detail in features like intricately designed front fender brackets or LED headlights with black-framed light guide elements on the R 12 nineT. The instrument panel integrates seamlessly into each model's overall style.

The centrepiece of these new models is their newly developed tubular bridge steel spaceframe which reduces weight by eliminating previous fastenings while providing a cleaner look. A bolted rear frame made from tubular steel complements this design.

In summary, both motorcycles blend traditional design elements with modern technology to offer riders maximum customization options along with powerful performance and enhanced safety features.
