BGauss Aims To Strengthen EV Market Presence, Targets Gig Workers
BGauss is set to enhance its investment significantly within the next 12-24 months. The company aims to double its overall investment, supported by a $20 million fundraising plan nearing completion, according to informed sources.
The company is targeting the growing gig economy by focusing on fixed and swappable battery scooters. At the launch of the RUV 350, Hemant Kabra, the founder and MD, stated, "Bgauss intends to offer a comprehensive EV solutions package with fixed and swappable options in the near future."
Focus on Gig Economy
A Niti Aayog report from 2022 highlighted that India's gig economy has seen substantial growth. It now includes around 15 million gig workers involved in various roles such as delivery, cleaning, consulting, and blogging. These jobs are facilitated by digital platforms that offer flexibility and allow workers to engage with multiple contractors simultaneously.
Platforms like Uber demonstrate this versatility by offering different services. The gig economy has reduced information asymmetry in job searches and operates on an outcome-based model, reducing risks associated with moral hazard.
For managers, this model provides access to a diverse talent pool and standardized outcomes. Low entry barriers have also contributed to the expansion of the gig economy.
New Product Launch
The company's latest product, the RUV350, is expected to reach dealerships by the end of the month. This model features a removable battery and large 16-inch wheels, which are claimed to improve ride quality and maneuverability.
BGauss plans to add swappable batteries to its existing product range. This addition aims to provide more convenience and greater uptime for consumers, eliminating the need for them to wait while charging their scooters every time they run out of range.
Hemant Kabra emphasized that Bgauss's goal is to offer a full range of EV solutions with both fixed and swappable battery options soon. This strategy aligns with their focus on catering to the needs of gig workers who require reliable and flexible transportation solutions.
