Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z Shines Bright: Aggressive Pricing Strategy Pays Off
Bajaj's Pulsar NS400Z has demonstrated significant sales potential since its launch. Priced attractively at Rs 1.85 lakh (Ex-showroom), it has outperformed other 400cc motorcycles from Bajaj's alliances. The combination of high performance and affordability appeals to price-conscious Indian buyers, making the Pulsar NS400Z a value champion.
In June 2024, the Pulsar NS400Z sold 2,515 units, securing a dominant position among competitors like the Triumph Speed 400, KTM 390 lineup, Bajaj Dominar 400, and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. This impressive performance gave the Pulsar NS400Z a market share of 43.28% within this segment.

Pulsar NS400Z's Market Performance
The Triumph 400 lineup, including Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, took second place with sales of 2,135 units in June 2024. This accounted for a market share of 36.74%. Compared to May 2024's sales of 2,117 units, Triumph saw a modest month-on-month (MoM) growth of 0.85%, adding 18 units in volume.

KTM's popular 390 series secured third place with a market share of 12.01%. In June 2024, KTM sold 698 units of the KTM 390 lineup. However, this represented a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 50.32%, losing 707 units in volume compared to the previous year. Despite this YoY drop, KTM saw a MoM growth of 6.56%, selling an additional 43 units compared to May's figures.
Performance Analysis: Bajaj and Partners
Bajaj Dominar 400 continues to maintain its presence despite being one of the older models in this segment. In June 2024, it sold 375 units but experienced a significant YoY decline of 40.19%, losing 252 units in volume. The MoM analysis also showed a decrease from May’s sales figures of 477 units to June’s figures, marking a decline of 21.38%.

Husqvarna Svartpilen emerged as the slowest-selling product among Bajaj’s alliances in June with only 88 units sold compared to May’s figure of 142 units. This resulted in a MoM decline of 38.03%, losing out on volume by selling fewer units.
Overall Sales Insights
Bajaj managed to sell an impressive number of bikes through its own brand and partner brands like Triumph, KTM, and Husqvarna in June. The combined sales reached up to an impressive figure of over five thousand bikes within the month alone.
