Bajaj CNG Bike Launch Tomorrow – To Be Named 'Freedom 125'
Bajaj is all set to launch India's first CNG bike tomorrow. This upcoming CNG Bike from Bajaj is one of the most anticipated and innovative launches of this year as it is set to redefine "affordability" in the Indian commuter motorcycle segment.
To this point, Bajaj Auto has been tight-lipped about the specifications regarding its upcoming CNG bike. In fact, there has been confusion regarding the name and possibility of more CNG models.
That being said, two different test mules have been frequently spotted testing near Bajaj's manufacturing plant, and we expect Bajaj will launch one of the models tomorrow (July 5). Moreover, this upcoming CNG Bike from Bajaj will be named 'Freedom 125'.
From the name, we can confirm that the upcoming CNG bike from Bajaj will use a 125cc engine rather than a 100cc unit. Looking into details, this powertrain will be a single-cylinder unit with 2 valve setup.
This powertrain setup is expected to give the Bajaj Freedom 125 enough grunt even when running on CNG. We also expect this powertrain setup to come mated to a 5-speed gearbox for better mileage on open roads.
In terms of power and torque figures, we expect the 125cc CNG-compatible powertrain from Bajaj to produce a maximum power of 12 to 13bhp while running on petrol, and 10 to 11.5bhp while emptying the CNG tank.
Finally, coming to the efficiency part, we expect the Bajaj Freedom 125 to redefine running cost and mileage figures in the commuter segment. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Bajaj Freedom 125 covering 100km using just 1kg of CNG.
Coupled with the fact that CNG is a lot cleaner burning fuel and affordable, we expect the Bajaj Freedom 125 to be a quick seller across the country. We also expect bookings for the model to commence tomorrow itself.
