Bajaj Auto's Sales Rise In June 2024: Pulsar And Platina Lead
Bajaj Auto Limited, the fourth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India, recorded domestic sales of 1,68,956 units in June 2024. This marks a 5.33% year-on-year growth compared to the 1,60,410 units sold in June 2023, reflecting an increase of 8,546 units.
Bajaj Pulsar and Platina Lead Sales
The Pulsar and Platina models dominated Bajaj's sales figures. The Pulsar series alone sold 1,11,101 units last month, showing a 3.63% rise from the 1,07,208 units sold in June 2023. The Pulsar range's best-seller was the 125cc model with 63,586 units sold despite a 5.28% decline year-on-year.

In contrast, the Pulsar 150cc saw a significant demand increase of 39.94%, selling 23,270 units. However, the Pulsar 200cc experienced an 8.96% drop with sales of 14,836 units. The Pulsar's larger models—250cc and 400cc—added another 6,894 and 2,515 units respectively to the total sales.
Platina and Chetak Performance
The Platina model saw a decline in sales by 9.44%, with only 33,101 units sold compared to last year's figure of 36,550 units. Despite this dip, it still commanded a significant share of Bajaj's domestic market at 19.59%. Meanwhile, Bajaj's electric scooter Chetak showed remarkable growth.

The Chetak's sales surged by an impressive 135.75%, reaching 16,691 units last month. This performance placed it ahead of TVS iQube by approximately 1,400 units on the list of top ten scooters for the month.
Decline in CT, Avenger and Dominar Sales
Other models like the Bajaj CT series faced a downturn in domestic sales. The CT series saw a decrease of 6.78%, selling only 5,929 units compared to last year's figure of 6,360 units. Although the CT110cc model improved by 28.67%, the CT125cc experienced a complete drop from its previous year's sales of 1,752 units.

The Avenger series also reported lower sales figures with a decline of 34.49%. It sold just 1,360 units last month; within this range, the Avenger’s 200cc and 250cc models accounted for only 1,065 and 295 units respectively.
New Launches and Future Expectations
Bajaj has high hopes for its new hybrid motorcycle model named Freedom. Priced at Rs.95,000 (ex-showroom), this bike features dual tanks for petrol and CNG use. The company anticipates that this innovative model will significantly boost future sales figures.

The Dominar series also faced challenges with a year-on-year decline of about 31.87%. Only selling around just774 units last month compared to 1,136 units during the same period last year.
Bajaj continues to focus on expanding its product lineup while addressing market demands effectively to maintain its competitive edge in India's two-wheeler market.
