Bajaj CNG Motorcycle: New Spy Shots Emerge
Bajaj Auto, a prominent name in the Indian automobile industry, is set to introduce India's first CNG motorcycle. Known for its innovative approach, Bajaj Auto has previously ventured into electric scooters. Now, the company is testing its new CNG bike on Indian roads.
The spy shots reveal a fully camouflaged test mule, keeping the bike's design under wraps. The overall silhouette resembles the Bajaj CT motorcycle, indicating a small-capacity commuter bike. This similarity suggests that Bajaj aims to price the CNG motorcycle competitively.

Expected to feature a 125cc engine, the new CNG bike is likely to launch by 2025. Bajaj is also working on additional CNG models, with several already spotted undergoing tests.
The test mule sports knuckle guards and fork gaiters, typically seen on adventure motorcycles. This indicates that Bajaj might launch multiple variants of the CNG bike. The vehicle includes a small CNG tank integrated into the frame, as per previously leaked blueprints.

CNG and Petrol Modes
Given the limited availability of CNG filling stations across India, the bike is expected to feature a small petrol tank as a range extender. This dual-mode capability will offer greater flexibility to users.
Advantages of CNG Vehicles
CNG vehicles run on natural gas stored under pressure, eliminating the need for petrol or diesel. This makes them economical and reduces crude oil imports. The government actively promotes CNG vehicles due to their cost-effectiveness and widespread availability.

Currently, only three and four-wheeler commercial vehicles in India run on CNG. The introduction of Bajaj's CNG motorcycle will be a unique addition to the market, potentially reducing running costs and increasing efficiency.
Future Prospects
While electrification seems to be the future trend, CNG vehicles provide an immediate solution to reduce dependency on fossil fuels. Bajaj Auto's initiative in this segment marks a significant step towards sustainable mobility solutions in India.
