Honda has recently unveiled the 2024 models of its NX400 and CBR400R motorcycles for the Japanese market, marking a significant update in its lineup. Unveiled at the 2023 EICMA in Milan, these bikes share a common platform and several high-tech features, setting new standards in the sub-middleweight motorcycle segment.
The NX400, a successor to the 400X crossover model, and the updated CBR400R are equipped with modern technology, making them contenders in the global motorcycle market. The 2024 NX400 stands out as a modern street adventure bike, boasting a refreshed appearance and an updated equipment list.

Both the NX400 and the CBR400R are equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control and a 5-inch full-colour TFT display. With the Honda RoadSync app, riders can easily connect their smartphones via Bluetooth for access to calls, messages, music, and turn-by-turn navigation.
The CBR400R has received a styling update, with changes to the headlamp cowl, headlight, and tail light, along with new ducts featuring winglets and slits on the middle cowls to enhance its sporty profile.

Colour options for the CBR400R include Grand Prix Red and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, with the latter also available for the NX400. The NX400 offers a second colour option, Pearl Glare White.
Specifications
The 2024 NX400 is larger in dimensions compared to the CBR400R, with increased width, length, and height. It also offers a larger wheelbase and higher ground clearance, making it slightly heavier than the CBR400R. Both bikes share common features like the Showa SFF-BP inverted fork and an assist and slipper clutch, continuing from the earlier models.

The heart of both motorcycles is a 399cc, water-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve parallel 2-cylinder engine, delivering 46 PS of max power and 38 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, offering a fuel efficiency of 28.1 km/L as per WMTC standards.
Potential India Launch
With the sub-middleweight motorcycle segment experiencing growth and new models like the Triumph 400 and Harley Davidson X440 gaining popularity, Honda's latest offerings could find a welcoming market in India. Reports suggest that companies like Bajaj may also enter this segment with models such as the Pulsar NS400.
In Japan, the Honda CBR400R is available at a starting price of 863,500 yen (approximately Rs 4.77 lakh), while the NX400 is priced slightly higher at 891,000 yen (approximately Rs 4.93 lakh). With market conditions looking optimistic, Honda could consider introducing these models to the Indian market,.
