Yamaha YZF-R3 & MT-03 Showcased At MotoGP Bharat – Launch In December 2023
Yamaha took the full opportunity of the limelight at the MotoGP Bharat by showcasing the new Yamaha R3 motorcycle along with the MT-03 motorcycle. Both models have been scheduled to be launched in India before the yearend.
That being said, the new Yamaha R3 will be a valuable addition to Yamaha's current product portfolio in India as the entry-level premium motorcycle segment has showcased consistent growth in recent years.
It is also worth mentioning that Yamaha had previously entered into this segment with the launch of the Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle. However, this motorcycle was discontinued after a few years due to the implementation of stricter BS-6 emission regulations back in April 2020.
Now with the imminent launch of the new Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is once again gearing uo to compete in the entry-level premium motorcycle segment in India.
Powering the latest iteration of the Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle is a 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine with 41bhp at 10,750rpm and 29.5Nm of peak torque at 9,000rpm. The upcoming model also comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch.
In terms of hardware, the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle will use a diamond frame with 37mm USD forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable KYB mono shock absorber at the rear. Also, the model will come with 298mm and 220mm front and rear disc brakes, respectively.
Apart from that, we expect the upcoming Yamaha MT-03 motorcycle to also sport the same specifications as the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle. However, being a naked motorcycle, the Yamaha MT-03 will have a more upright riding position.

Looking back in time, the Yamaha YZF-R3 was one of the most desirable motorcycles you can buy. That being said, with the launch of the new Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer will be once again looking forward to making its mark on the entry-level premium motorcycle segment.
However, the success of the new Yamaha YZF-R3 and MT-03 motorcycles will heavily depend upon the pricing. It is also worth mentioning that some dealers in India have already started unofficial bookings for these motorcycles.
