EICMA 2023: Suzuki GSX-8R Unveiled - The Faired Sibling Of The 8S
Suzuki GSX-8R sports bike revealed at EICMA 2023 in Milan, Italy. The Suzuki GSX-8R, is in essence, a sportier faired version of the firm's GSX-8S roadster and looks set to fight the likes of the Yamaha R7 and the Aprilia RS 660.
The GSX-8R sports the aggressive styling of the GSX-R series but carries over most of the mechanical bits from the 8S. The sporty styling of the 8R includes a new front and lower fairing design taken from the GSX-R series.

Also seen are a set of upright forged aluminium clip-on handlebars and new mirrors with the former seemingly making the ring position a lot more sportier compared to the 8S which has a one-piece flat set-up.
The seat height of the new GSX-8R remains unchanged at 810mm while the muscular fuel tank holds 14 litres of petrol and the new sports bike offers 145mm of ground clearance. The Suzuki GSX-8R weighs in at 205 kilogrammes, which is 3 kilos more than the 8S and this is mostly thanks to the extra bodywork upfront.

The new Suzuki GSX-8R is powered by the same liquid-cooled DOHC 776cc parallel twin engine with a 270-degree firing order as the 8S. The powerplant pushes out a healthy 82bhp at 8500rpm and 78Nm in the naked GSX-8S and comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox with an up/down quick shifter.
Like the naked 8S, the new 8R sports a tubular steel frame setup with Inverted telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. However, Suzuki has replaced the KYB units from the 8S with components from Showa to deal with the rough stuff.

The new Suzuki GSX-8R rides on 17-inch wheels that are draped in 120/70 (front) and 180/55 (rear) Dunlop RoadSport 2 tyres. Braking duties are carried out by twin 310mm discs at the front clamped down by Nissin 4-piston callipers while the single 240mm disc at the back sports a 1-piston Nissin calliper.
The new Suzuki GSX1000-8R also sports a 5-inch colour TFT display and three different riding modes dubbed A, B and C as part of the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.). A stands for 'Active' and is the sportiest of the three modes on offer. B is 'Basic' and is for general all-purpose riding, while C is 'Comfort' and it offers a softer throttle response and more gentle torque characteristics.

Thoughts About The Suzuki GSX-8R
The Suzuki GSX-8R sees the Japanese firm introduce a new faired middleweight sports bike, a segment that seems to be drawing quite a lot of attention in international markets these days. However, chances of this bike coming to our shores currently seem non-existent.
