EICMA 2023: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Revealed - The New Mid Boss Is Here
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 revealed at EICMA 2023. The all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the second generation of the bike from the marque to bear the Himalayan name. Bookings open today and the bike will be avaialble.
Royal Enfield also revealed an all-electric version of the Himalayan which sported the HIM-E name on its sideplates. No details have been revealed about the firm's all-electric Himalayan except that RE is using it as a test bed.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 sports a brand new powertrain dubbed the Sherpa 450 by the Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer. The powertrain consists of a brand new liquid-cooled, dual-overhead-camshaft, 4-valve engine that displaces 451.65cc.
The brand-new engine has a bore and stroke of 84mm and 81.5mm respectively. The engine pushes out 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm up from the 24bhp of the previous bike. Torque has also risen from 32Nm to 40Nm which now peaks at 5,500rpm. The gearbox too has gained an extra ratio and is now a 6-speed unit.

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 sports 43mm USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Both the front and rear offer 200mm of suspension travel. The front wheel is a 21-inch unit while the rear wheel is a 17-inch and the rims are draped in bespoke 90/90-21 (front) and 140/80-R17 (rear) CEAT tyres.
Braking duties are handled by a single 320mm disc at the front and a 270mm disc at the back both of which are clamped down by Bybre callipers. Dual-channel ABS is standard on the all-new Himalayan 450 and riders can switch off the rear ABS.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the first motorcycle from the brand to feature different riding modes. This is possible thanks to the ride-by-wire setup and the switchable ABS setup. The three riding modes are Eco, Performance (with rear ABS on), and Performance (with rear ABS off).
The Himalayan also gets a tech upgrade in its new 450 guise and is the first RE motorcycle to sport a colour TFT display. This circular unit offers Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation with Google Maps support. Also seen is a full LED lighting setup with a circular headlamp along with integrated tail lights and rear brake lights.

Despite all the new hardware which is beefier than before and the presence of a larger 17-litre fuel tank, the new Himalayan 450 is actually 3 kilos lighter than its predecessor at 198kg. Ground clearance is up 30mm at 230mm and the seat height has also increased by 25mm to 825mm.
The new Himalayan 450 is offered in three variants - Himalayan, Himalayan Pass and Himalayan Summit. The base variant is offered in a single colour option - Kaza Brown. The mid-spec Pass sports Slate Himalayan Slat and Slate Poppy Blue colour options while the top-spec Summit is offered in either Kamet White or Hanle Black.

Thoughts About The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 sees the RE adventure bike reach a brand new level of performance as it looks to keep away the incoming competition from rivals like Triumph and Harley-Davidson.
