Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 Vs Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 – Design, Powertrain, Range & More
Ola Electric recently launched the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 electric scooter in India. What's even more interesting is the model will be sold alongside the older Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 electric scooter in the country.
This will result in confusion among buyers. As such, here are a few differences between the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 and the older Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 electric scooters.
Price: Starting with the older model, the Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 electric scooter is priced at Rs 1,39,999 (ex-showroom). In comparison, the newly launched Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 electric scooter is priced at Rs 7,500 more at Rs 1,47,499 (ex-showroom).
Design: The new Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 electric scooter looks similar to the older Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 electric scooter. However, a closer look reveals that the newer Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 sports quite a few changes compared to the Gen 1 scooter.
For starters, the newer Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 electric scooter sports a more conventional telescopic suspension, a more practical flat footboard, a tubular rear grab handle, new taillamps, and a new rear swingarm.
Powertrain: The Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 is a powerful scooter with 8.5kW of peak power and the model comes equipped with a 4kW battery pack. In comparison, the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 comes with a more powerful 11kW electric motor. However, the battery size remains the same.
Performance: The Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 electric scooter can accelerate to 40km/h in just 2.9 seconds and attain a top speed of 116km/h. On the other hand, the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 can achieve the same feat in just 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 120km/h.
Hardware: Hardware changes include a new hybrid chassis that replaced the older tubular frame. As a result, the underseat storage has now been reduced by 2 litres to just 34 litres. Also, as mentioned above, the front and rear suspension set has been changed.
Thoughts: Though the new Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 electric scooter may look similar to the Ola S1 Pro Gen 1, the company has made significant changes to the newer model. Though most of these changes lie under the skin, the difference it creates is expected to be felt considerably.
