Ola Electric Bags More Than 75,000 Bookings In 2 Weeks: New Models Boost Sales

Ola Electric, a leading electric vehicle firm in India, has broadened its range of products to include five scooters priced between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1,50,000. The revamped S1 series has generated an overwhelming amount of interest from consumers with over 75,000 orders placed within the first fortnight following its release.

An Ola representative expressed their excitement at the positive feedback received for the updated S1 series. They stated that they are committed to aiding India's transition towards electrification through their innovative product line which includes models like the S1 Pro and recently launched S1 Air.

The company prides itself on offering an attractive total cost of ownership (TCO) by making EVs affordable for everyone. With models like the economical S1X, customers can save up to Rs 2,600 monthly or approximately Rs 30,000 annually compared to traditional ICE scooters when considering fuel and maintenance expenses.

This means that customers could potentially recoup their investment within three years. During its annual launch event commemorating Independence Day, Ola Electric revealed its flagship model designed to compete with ICE vehicles - the S1X.

Available in three variants (S1 X+, S1 X [2kWh], and S1 X [3kWh]), it caters to diverse rider needs. Both the top-tier variant - the S1 X+ - and one of its counterparts come equipped with a potent 6kW motor along with a battery capable of covering distances up to 151 km.

The premium model is available at Rs 1,09,999 with deliveries beginning next month while reservations for other variants can be made for just Rs 999 each.

Additionally showcased was Ola Electric's second-generation scooter – Gen-2 S1 Pro built on an advanced integrated platform that offers enhanced features such as twin-fork telescopic front suspension and flat floorboard along with improved range capabilities.

Thoughts: The launch of the more affordable range of electric scooters has definitely helped Ola Electric boost its sales figures as many EV buyers were slightly frustrated with the reduction of FAME-II subsidy. On top of that, the limited period introductory price offer really pushed EV buyers to book the new range of Ola electric scooters before an imminent price hike.
