Bigger Ather Electric Scooter Spotted Testing – Could Be More Affordable
Ather Energy's electric scooters have been youthful in terms of design and sporty to ride. This made it an instant hit among youngsters and automotive journalists alike. However, Ather now seems to be developing a more conservative-looking electric scooter with a more comfort-oriented setup.
This new electric scooter from Ather Energy was spied in Bangalore, and the test mule was wrapped in camouflage stickers. However, despite the camouflage stickers, we can clearly see that the Ather's new test mule was nothing like the Ather's current range of electric scooters.
Analysing the spy shots, the upcoming new Ather electric scooter sports a boxy design with minimal cuts and creases, this design theme is exactly opposite to the design seen on the Ather 450 range of electric scooters.
A closer look also reveals that the spied electric scooter from Ather is slightly bigger and offers more space. In fact, the footboard on the spied electric scooter seems to be slightly larger than the one in the Ather's existing range of electric scooters.
It is also worth mentioning that the underseat storage on this spied electric scooter from Ather is likely to be huge. Other design details include a single-piece grab rail, front disc brake, and a large single-piece seat with a generous amount of cushioning.
Summarising all the details, we can see that Ather Energy is making a proper family-friendly scooter with a primary focus on comfort and practicality. That being said, we expect this new electric scooter from Ather to be available in multiple variants.
Coming to the powertrain setup, Ather's upcoming family-friendly electric scooter is expected to sport the same powertrain setup as the company's existing range of electric scooters. However, we expect features to be similar to the Ather 450S electric scooter to keep the price attractive.
When launched, we expect this new electric scooter from Ather Energy to directly rival the TVS iQube range of electric scooters. This is a major market for Ather Energy as the TVS iQube has been doing pretty well for itself in the EV segment.
