MotoGP Race Report Austria: Marquez Sees Chequered; Bagnaia Extends Lead
Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati dominated the Austrian MotoGP at Spielberg, winning both the sprint and main races. This victory puts him 62 points ahead in the standings, bringing him closer to a second successive title.
Brad Binder from KTM came in second place, while Marco Bezzecchi from Ducati VR46 secured third place. Both riders put up a strong performance during the race.

Bagnaia's win in Austria marks his third double weekend of the season, having won both Saturday's sprint and Sunday's main event. He now leads the championship standings by 62 points with 10 races completed out of 20.
Conditions were tough for all riders, but Bagnaia managed to demonstrate his potential throughout the weekend. Binder also had a strong performance, finishing as runner-up for two consecutive days on his home circuit.

Starting from pole position, Bagnaia had a perfect launch off the line and maintained his lead throughout the grueling 28-lap race. Despite Binder's attempts to pass him early on, Bagnaia controlled the race and crossed the finish line over five seconds ahead of his competitors.
Jorge Martin, who had a long lap penalty for irresponsible riding in Saturday's sprint, managed to recover and secure seventh place. Bagnaia's win solidifies Ducati's dominance in the championship.
Bagnaia and Binder were the standout performers from the start of the grand prix, with Bagnaia successfully fending off Binder's attempts to pass him early on. The Italian gradually increased his lead, leaving Binder unable to catch up.
Marco Bezzecchi made several unsuccessful attempts to pass Alex Marquez but eventually succeeded with a pass on Turn 8 with six laps remaining. Luca Marini also fought hard for fourth place before securing it.
Jack Miller initially held third place but was overtaken by several riders, including Alex Marquez, Bezzecchi, and Marini. Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro from Aprilia also made their way up the ranks.
Jorge Martin received a long lap penalty for causing a crash in Saturday's sprint but managed to recover and finish in seventh place. Joan Mir crashed out of the race once again, continuing his streak of non-finishes.
The new, stricter tyre pressure monitoring system was a concern for riders due to the hot and sunny conditions. Some riders complained about soaring tyre pressures during the sprint race on Saturday.

Ducati's Desmosedicis have been strong at the Red Bull Ring circuit, with only two losses in ten races since its return to the calendar in 2016. Miguel Oliveira gave Tech3 KTM their first MotoGP victory at this circuit in 2020, while Brad Binder secured a memorable win for KTM in 2021.
