KTM India Crosses Significant Milestone – 1 Millionth Motorcycle Rolled Out Of Chakan Plant
The Austrian two-wheeler manufacturer KTM crossed the 1 million unit production milestone in India. The 1 millionth KTM motorcycle was rolled out of Bajaj's manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune.
Diving into details, the 1 millionth KTM motorcycle that rolled out from the Bajaj's Chakan plant was a KTM 390 Adventure motorcycle. It is also worth mentioning that the Austrian brand has partnered with Bajaj for the manufacturing of both domestic and export units of its sub-400cc motorcycles.
Speaking about the production milestones, KTM India rolled out its 1,00,000th motorcycle back in 2014 and 6 years later in 2020, the company rolled out its 5,00,000th motorcycle from Bajaj's Chakan facility. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that it took less than half the time to roll out the next half-a-million KTM motorcycles.
Speaking about the partnership, KTM's first motorcycle rolled out from Bajaj's Chakan plant almost 12 years ago in 2011. At that time, those KTM motorcycles manufactured in Bajaj's Chakan plant were solely intended for the export market and none of those motorcycles were sold in India.
However, a year later, KTM also entered the Indian market with the Duke 200 in 2012. Following the success of the KTM Duke 200 motorcycle, the Austrian brand launched the RC series motorcycles in 2014 and a few years down the line, the company launched the Adventure series in 2020.
Apart from that, KTM introduced 4 different powertrain configurations to cater to the requirements of different segments. In fact, the Austrian two-wheeler manufacturer even introduced 125cc configuration of its single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine along with its 200cc, 250cc, and 373cc (390) engine configurations.

It is a remarkable achievement by the partnership, however, the production numbers also include export motorcycles and half of the number of motorcycles manufactured at the Bajaj's Chakan facility is exported. In fact, KTM motorcycles from Bajaj's Chakan facility is exported to 118 countries. That being said, we expect these figures to grow even faster in the coming years due to increased demand for KTM motorcycles.
