EICMA 2023: Manic Kawasaki Ninja 500 & Z500 Debut - India Launch On The Cards

The EICMA motorcycle show held in Milan, Italy, saw the unveiling of two new additions to the Kawasaki family, the Ninja 500 and Z 500. The new sports bike and naked see the Japanese strengthen its presence in the middleweight segment.

The most notable aspect of these motorcycles is their new engine. Kawasaki has yet to reveal the specifics, but it's anticipated that both models will be powered by a 451cc, parallel-twin engine, similar to the one used in the Eliminator 500.

This water-cooled powerplant generates 45.4bhp at 9000rpm and 42.6Nm of torque at 6000rpm in the Eliminator 500. Kawasaki has hinted that the new engine will offer an improved torque spread compared to the Ninja 400.

A trellis frame houses the new parallel-twin engine, a setup shared between the Ninja 500 and Z 500. The frame hangs off a traditional front fork and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by single discs on both ends.

In terms of features, both motorcycles come equipped with an LCD as standard. The higher-spec SE versions, however, take things up a notch by offering Bluetooth connectivity, a USB-C charging port, along with keyless ignition and unique liveries. The Z500 SE also sports a colour TFT display.

The common cycle parts used by the new Kawasaki 500 duo are balanced out by unique design elements that give each motorcycle its distinct identity. The Ninja 500 boasts a design similar to the Ninja ZX-6R, aligning it with the rest of the Ninja range.

The Z 500, on the other hand, flaunts a radical front-end look with an innovative LED DRL setup along with a unique tank shroud, fuel tank design, and rear end that make it look insanely angular when viewed from certain angles.

Indian fans of the brand should be excited about the new Ninja 500 and Z 500 as these motorcycles are expected to be launched in the country sometime next year. the new duo will replace the Ninja 400 currently sold in India.

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Z 500 are rather important middleweight motorcycles, especially for fans of the green-loving Japanese marque looking for either a middleweight racer or bruiser. We can't wait to get into their saddles when they arrive in India in 2024.
