Honda Motocompacto – A ‘Suitcase’ With A Top Speed Of 24km/h
Honda unveiled the Motocompacto foldable electric scooter to the world. This new compact electric scooter from the Japanese giant is so compact that it can be easily mistaken for a suitcase.
That being said, the newly unveiled Honda Motocompacto pays homage to the original and the iconic Honda Motocompo scooter from the early 1908s. This iconic scooter has a lot of significance in the Japanese market.
In fact, the original Honda Motocompo even played a significant part in the Japanese manga series "Your're Under Arrest". In the series, the Honda Motocompo is used by the main character 'Natsumi Tsujimoto'.
Even in the manga series, the compactness of the Honda Motocompo was very well depicted as the model was neatly tucked away at the back of another character's Honda Today police car. In fact, the original Honda Motocompo measured just 1,185mm long, 535mm wide, and 910mm tall.
Powering the Honda Motocompo compact scooter was a 49cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, two-stroke engine with 2.5bhp and 3.8Nm of torque. Furthermore, the model had a top speed of more than 30km/h.
Coming back to the newly unveiled Honda Motocompacto, this foldable electric scooter measures 968mm long, 437mm wide and 889mm tall in its rideable configuration. This makes the latest model a lot more compact than the original Honda Motocompo scooter.
However, in its folded configuration, the new Honda Motocompacto measures just 742mm long, 100mm wide and 536mm tall. Further, the model also weighs just 18 kilograms - Making it extremely portable.
One of the reasons for the extreme compactness of the Honda Motocompacto can be credited to its electric drivetrain. That being said, the model is powered by a permanent magnet direct-drive motor with 490W power and 16Nm of torque.
Also, the model is powered by a 6.8Ah battery pack that can be charged in less than 3.5 hours using a 110-volt outlet. Thanks to this configuration, the Honda Motocompacto can do a top speed of 24km/h and has a claimed range of 19 kilometres.
