Honda Electric Scooter Coming Soon To India – We Know When
We all know that Honda will eventually launch an electric scooter in the Indian two-wheeler market, but now the company has not only confirmed the launch of this new Honda electric scooter but the tentative date as well.
Diving into details, Mr Atsushi Ogata, the Managing Director, President, and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced that the company is looking forward to launching its first electric scooter in India.
Apart from that, Mr Ogata also said that this new Honda electric scooter will be launched in India by March 2024. On top of that, he also stated that this new Honda electric scooter is currently being developed and it is built on an entirely new platform that is based on the demanding requirements of the Indian market.
However, the icing on the cake was when Mr Ogata revealed that HMSI is planning to launch another new electric vehicle in quick succession after the launch of Honda's first electric scooter in the country. Along with that, he also revealed that Honda's first electric scooter in India will sport a fixed battery pack and the second model will come with swappable battery technology.
That being said, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has a distinct advantage over other electric scooter manufacturers in India as it is currently planning to utilise its 6,000+ outlets with EV charging facilities. Furthermore, the company is also the market leader in the scooter segment with a 56 per cent market share.
However, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has not revealed the investment details regarding the development of EVs in future or regarding its plans to set up charging infrastructure in the country. Also, the two-wheeler manufacturer also kept a tight lip regarding the tentative specifications of its upcoming electric scooter in India.

Though Honda is very well-known for its technological innovations, the automaker has been a little conservative in the Indian two-wheeler market. That being said, Honda's plans to launch its first electric scooter in India seem to be at the right time as many consumers are now showing more confidence in EV technology and we expect this confidence of the consumer to grow exponentially with the launch of the Honda's first electric scooter.
