Honda CBR250RR Patented In India – 42bhp SP Variant Also In The Pipeline
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recently announced their plans to launch larger capacity motorcycles in India. In line with the plan, the Japanese automaker has now patented the Honda CBR250RR motorcycle in India.
This new motorcycle from Honda will be a twin-cylinder motorcycle, and we already have some pretty high expectations. Moreover, the upcoming Honda CBR250RR will also be a good motorcycle for those looking forward to upgrading their single-cylinder motorcycle.
When launched, we expect the new Honda CBR250RR motorcycle to compete against the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 motorcycles. On top of that, we also expect Honda to price the model around the Rs 3.50 lakh mark.
That being said, the design of the Honda CBR250RR has been heavily inspired by the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade with its sharp lines. Also, looking at the patent images, the motorcycle comes with eyebrow-like LED DRLs positioned above the LED headlights, which gives it a lot of aggression as well.
The patent image also reveals that the Honda CBR250RR motorcycle will come with USD forks at the front, clip-on handlebars, fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, single petal disc brakes at front and rear, steep sub-frame and a stubby dual-barrel exhaust.
The Indonesian spec Honda CBR250RR motorcycle sports a 249.7cc, parallel-twin engine with 38.2bhp of power at 12,500rpm and 23.3Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. In comparison, the SP variant puts out 41.6bhp of power at 12,500rpm and 25Nm of torque at 11,000rpm.
In terms of hardware, the Honda CBR250RR comes with a Diamond (Truss) frame, an aluminium swingarm, 5-step adjustable rear mono suspension, and 17-inch alloy wheels shod with110/70 R17 tyre at the front, and a wider 140/70 R17 tyre at the rear.
That being said, the Honda CBR250RR sports a large 14.5-litre fuel tank, and the seat height stands at a very manageable 790mm. However, the ground clearance seems to be on the lower side at just 148mm.
It is also worth mentioning that the Honda CBR250RR is a lightweight motorcycle despite being a faired, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motorcycle. In fact, the standard model weighs just 166 kilogrammes, whereas the SP variant weighs 2 kilogrammes more.
