Honda CB350 Vs Royal Enfield Classic 350 – The Closest Rivals

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle has been dominating the 300cc to 500cc category for a very long time in India despite many two-wheeler manufacturers trying their luck against the Classic 350.

Now, Honda has launched the CB350, and the motorcycle looks to be the closest competitor to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle to this day. As such, here's a quick comparison between the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Honda CB350 motorcycle.

Design

There is no doubt that the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a handsome-looking retro-themed motorcycle. Every design element is proportionate and very well complements the overall motorcycle. However, the model does lack modern touches such as LED lighting.

On the other hand, the newly launched CB350 motorcycle follows a similar theme with the incorporation of new fuel tank, updated side panels, bigger and more retro-looking mudguards, shrouded RSU telescopic front suspension and a new retro-themed exhaust.

Features

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a proper retro motorcycle with a very short feature list which includes the likes of single-channel and dual-channel ABS options, electric start, part-analogue part-digital instrument cluster, and front and rear disc brakes.

In contrast, the new Honda CB350 comes much better equipped with features such as Honda Smart Phone Voice Control System (HSVCS), Bluetooth Connectivity, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), dual channel ABS, all LED lighting, more premium-looking part-analogue part-digital instrument cluster, and much more.

Hardware

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 features telescopic suspension at the front and a pair of 6-step adjustable shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by a 300mm disc brake at the front and a 270mm disc brake at the rear (single-channel ABS variants feature 153mm drum brakes).

The Honda CB350 sports decent hardware which includes the likes of a telescopic suspension unit at the front, and a pair of nitrogen-filled shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duty is carried by a 310mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm disc brake at the rear.

Engine & Gearbox

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle uses a 349.34cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with 19.94bhp at 6,100rpm and 27Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. This engine comes paired with a simple tried-and-tested 5-speed gearbox.

In comparison, the newly launched Honda CB350 is powered by a 348.36cc, single-cylinder engine with 20.8bhp at 5,500rpm and 29.4Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. Also, this engine in the new Honda CB350 motorcycle comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox with Slip & Assist clutch.

Prices for the new Honda CB350 motorcycle starts at Rs 2.00 lakh (ex-showroom).On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is much more affordable at Rs 1.93 lakh (ex-showroom). However, for the dual-channel model, prices start at Rs 2.13 lakh (ex-showroom).
