EICMA 2023: Honda CB1000 Hornet Revealed - The Litre-Class Stinger
Honda CB1000 Hornet revealed at EICMA 2023. The Honda CB1000 Hornet is the largest of Honda's Hornet trio and was revealed alongside the CB500 Hornet in Milan today.
At the heart of the CB1000 Hornet sits a formidable 999cc, inline four-cylinder DOHC 16V engine, borrowed from the CBR1000RR Fireblade. This powerplant pumps out more than 147.5bhp and 100Nm of peak torque (exact numbers are still not out) and comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The CB1000 Hornet comes packed with features like It comes with Throttle By Wire (TBW), three pre-set riding modes, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), and an assist/slipper clutch for smoother gear changes.
Honda claims that the CB1000 Hornet's performance is further enhanced by a downdraught intake and a 4-2-1 exhaust system which should make for quite the wonderful soundtrack on the go.

Design-wise, the CB1000 Hornet exudes an aggressive yet refined aesthetic. Its dual LED projector headlights are super-compact, while the broad-shouldered fuel tank features forward-folded wings, a Hornet signature, adding to its muscular stance.
The slim seat unit accentuates the bike's narrow-waisted look. The steel twin-spar frame and tubular trellis-style rear subframe not only contribute to the bike's sleek silhouette but also ensure rigidity and stability.

The suspension setup includes Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD forks, adjustable for compression and rebound damping, and a Showa monoshock at the rear. The new Honda CB1000 Hornet rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that come with 120/70 (front) and 180/55 (rear) tyres.
The braking system comprises radial-mounted four-piston brake callipers and 310mm floating discs at the front and a 256mm disc brake at the rear. Both the suspension and the brakes are borrowed from the previous CB1000R.

The CB1000 Hornet also sports a full-colour 5-inch TFT screen with Honda Road Sync smartphone connectivity, allowing riders to stay connected on the go. The bike is fully decked out in LED lighting, including the striking dual LED projector headlights.
Honda is offering the CB1000 Hornet in three colour options: Grand Prix Red, Mat Iridium Gray Metallic, and Pearl Glare White.

Thoughts About The Honda CB1000 Hornet
The new Honda CB1000 Hornet looks to be a compelling package of design and performance and sees the Japanese firm's marque named after the stinging insect head into the litre-class segment. Just how it will behave on the streets is something only time in the saddle will tell, but with no news about the big Hornets coming to India, for us, a ride will remain a pipe dream.
