EICMA 2023: Hero Xoom 125R & Xoom 160 Unveiled - Xooming To New Adventures
Hero Xoom 125R and Xoom 160 scooters revealed at EICMA 2023 in Milan Italy. The two new Hero Xoom scooters were revealed alongside the Vida V1 Pro Coupe and the Hero 2.5R Xtunt concept.
The two new members of Hero's Xoom lineup are as different as chalk and cheese when compared to each other. While the Xoom 125R is a racy 125cc scooter, the Xoom 160 promises to be a scooter that you take off the beaten path.
Let's first talk about the Hero Xoom 125R. The smaller of the two ICE scooters revealed at EICMA 2023, the Xoom 125 is powered by what Hero calls 'a refined 125cc engine' that allows the scooter to offer fast acceleration and class-leading vehicle dynamics.
This suggests that the new Xoom 125R is targeting the TVS Ntorq's sporty 125cc scooter crown. Hero hasn't given any actual performance numbers for the Xoom 125R, but they better be up to the mark, if it wants to beat the TVS.
As for the styling, Hero claims that the Xoom 125R has been designed "for the free-spirited modern warrior" and sports "design attributes inspired by a flight of a Falcon." The Xoom 125R sports an LED lighting setup with first-in-segment LED winkers along with a digital speedo with Bluetooth connectivity and 14-inch alloy wheels.
Now let's move on to the Hero Xoom 160, which in this writer's opinion is the more interesting of the duo. This adventurous scooter looks to be ready to take on Aprilia's offerings in the premium scooter segment with its brand-new 156cc, liquid-cooled engine that benefits from Hero's i3s tech.
The maxi-scooter design combined with the block pattern tyres fitted to the 14-inch wheels along with twin shocks at the rear (the front sports a regular fork) gives the Hero Xoom 160 the look of a scooter that wouldn't mind exploring the roads less travelled.
Features fitted to the Hero Xoom 160 include a Smart Key with Keyless Ignition, Remote Seat Opening, Smart Find, dual-chamber LED headlight and an LED taillight.

The Hero Xoom 125R and the Xoom 160 see the Jaipur-based firm's new Xoom scooter range add two new scooters to its lineup taking the total count to three. while the Xoom 125R and Xoom 160 may seem like they have different goals, Hero hopes they will allow it to gain a proper foothold in the premium scooter market in India.
