EICMA 2023: Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916 Revealed - A Tribute To An Icon
Ducati has unveiled a spectacular tribute to one of its most iconic motorcycles, the 916, with the unveiling of the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916 at EICMA 2023.
This limited-edition Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916 model (500 units only), honours the 30th anniversary of the legendary 916 which was in production from 1994 to 1998 and whose racing version took Ducati to 4 WSBK championships three with Carl 'Foggy' Fogarty (1994, 95 & 98) and one with Troy Corser (1996).
The paintwork on this new model draws inspiration from Fogarty's victorious 1999 World Superbike Championship 996 instead. The distinctive black sections on the upper fairing mirror the cool-air ducts found on the original 916, while a gold laurel logo adorns the fuel tank cover, reminiscent of the iconic 916. The fairing logo, finished in silver with a gold outline, adds a 3D effect to the design.
The Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916's engine remains untouched compared to the 'regular' Panigale V4 SP2 with the 1,103cc V4 pushing out 212.5bhp at 13,000rpm and 123.6Nm at 9,500rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with Ducati's Quickshift EVO 2 up and down quickshifter.
The bike differs from the standard Panigale V4 S in quite a few ways. It features a single-seat configuration, a billet aluminium triple clamp that is laser-engraved with the model name and serial number. Additional enhancements include a billet fuel cap, wing mirror removal cover caps, adjustable footpegs, and a tail tidy kit.
The Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916 sports an Ohlins NPX25/30 fully adjustable 43mm USD front fork and a fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 monoshock setup at the rear along with an aluminium single-sided swingarm.
The Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916 rides on 17-inch carbon fibre five-spoke wheels that reduce the overall weight by 1.4kg compared to the Panigale V4 S. The wheels come shod with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres - 120/70 ZR17 (front) and 200/60 ZR17 (rear).
The braking system includes Brembo Stylema R callipers at the front that clamp down on twin 330mm discs and are accompanied by carbon fibre cooling ducts. The rear end of the limited-run Ducati sports a 245mm disc clamped down by 2-piston callipers.
As expected from such a high-spec model, the Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916 comes with a dedicated track kit, including the Ducati Data Analyser+ and the open clutch cover. Limited to just 500 units, each bike will come with a dedicated bike cover and a certificate of authenticity.
