Bajaj Chetak Urbane Launched At Rs 1,15,001 - 113km Range

Bajaj Chetak Urbane launched at Rs 1,15,001 (ex-showroom). The new Bajaj Chetak Urbane is offered in two guises - 'Standard' and 'Tecpac' with the latter priced at Rs 1,21,001 (ex-showroom).

While the new Chetak Urbane may sit alongside the Premium version of the Chetak, it features a few upgrades as well as some downgrades compared to the OG electric Chetak.

The biggest of these changes come in the form of the range and charging. The new Bajaj Chetak Urbane sports the same 2.88 kWh battery pack as the Premium. On the Chetak Urbane, the battery pack offers a range of 113km (IDC) which is up from the Premium's ARAi range of 108km.

However, the charging time for the Chetak Urbane has gone up by one hour to four hours and 50 minutes. This is due to the fact that the Chetak Urbane does not get the Premium's 800W onboard charger. Instead, it makes do with a 650W off-board charger.

Another major difference between the new Chetak Urbane and the Premium is the braking setup. The new Urbane sports drum brakes on both ends while the Premium sports a disc brake up front. The brakes are aided by a combi-braking system.

There are changes between the two versions of the Chetak Urbane as well. The 'Standard' Chetak Urbane has a top speed of 63km/h. The Standard only offers the Eco riding mode and has limited app connectivity.

The 'Tecpac' version of the new Chetak Urbane, on the other hand, offers both Eco and Sport modes, with the latter helping the top speed rise to 73km/h. Buyers of the Chetak Urban Tecpac will also get full app connectivity along with features like Reverse Mode and Hill Hold Assist.

Both versions of the new Bajaj Chetak Urbane share quite a few features including the circular colour LCD, metal body, IP67 water and dust resistance, geo-fencing and the key fob that can help locate the scooter if it is within a 30-metre radius and start it remotely if it is 1.5 metres (max) away.

The overall design of the Chetak Urbane seems unchanged compared to the Chetak Premium. The Chetak Urbane also runs on the same 12-inch wheels that are shod with 90/90 tubeless tyres.

The Bajaj Chetak Urbane is offered in four colour options for customers to choose from - Matte Coarse Grey, Cyber White, Brooklyn Black and Indigo Metallic.

Thoughts About The Bajaj Chetak Urbane

The launch of the new Bajaj Chetak Urbane sees the Pune-based firm add a second version of its electric scooter. The launch also lends credence to recent reports that the Chetak Premium is set for a big upgrade in the near future.
