Auto Expo 2023: Yamaha FZ 15 Flex Fuel Motorcycle Showcased

Yamaha Motorcycles also showcased its technological prowess at the Auto Expo 2023 by showcasing the Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle at the event.

Diving into details, the Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 is a Brazilian spec motorcycle and this model has already been launched in Brazil as 'Fazer FZ 15' and the model has been priced at 16,990 Brazilian Real (INR 2.69 lakh).

Unlike other flex fuel motorcycles that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023, the Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle has already been launched and it can run on a wider range of ethanol-blended fuel (E20 to E100). In fact, the Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle can run on 100 per cent ethanol.

For this Yamaha has made numerous changes to the powertrain of the Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle. Using ethanol as fuel, the new Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle is capable of producing 12.4bhp of peak power at 7,500rpm and 13Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm.

In comparison, the 149cc, single-cylinder, SOHC, 2-valve engine produces 12.2bhp of peak power at 7,500rpm and 12.7Nm of torque at 6,000rpm while using petrol as fuel. It is also worth mentioning that the outgoing model in India is slightly more powerful as it is capable of producing 12.4bhp of peak power at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm.

In terms of hardware, the Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle uses the tried-and-tested diamond frame chassis, and sports 41mm conventional telescopic suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. Also, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle comes with 100/80 R17 tyres at the front and 140/60 R17 tyres at the rear.

On the other hand, braking duties on the new Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle are taken care of by a single 282mm disc brake at the front and a single 220mm disc brake at the rear. Moreover, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle comes with single-channel ABS for better braking performance and safety.

Though the new powertrain is slightly less powerful and may seem like a step down on paper, in reality, Yamaha has paved a new path for future Yamaha motorcycles in the country. In fact, with the help of flex fuel technology, the newly showcased Yamaha FZ 15 ABS flex fuel motorcycle will not only have significantly lower emission levels compared to the standard motorcycle, but it will also help in reducing our dependability on fossil fuels along with the overall reduction of atmospheric pollution.
