Ather Confirms New Electric Scooters – New 450 & A Family Electric Scooter

Co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, Tarun Mehta has confirmed that they have been working on a family electric scooter. Moreover, this upcoming family electric scooter was recently spotted testing in Bangalore.

Analysing spied images, the test mule was wrapped in a black and white camouflage sticker. However, despite the thick camouflage, we can clearly see that the Ather's new test mule was nothing like the Ather's current range of electric scooters.

Starting with the design, the upcoming Ather electric scooter sports a boxy design with minimal cuts and creases, this design theme is opposite to the sharp design theme seen on the Ather 450 range of electric scooters.

Furthermore, we also think that this upcoming family-oriented electric scooter from Ather is slightly bigger and offers more space than the Ather 450 range of electric scooters. Also, the footboard on the spied electric scooter seems to be slightly larger as well.

Thanks to its boxy design, we expect the underseat storage on the upcoming electric scooter from Ather is likely to be huge. Other design details spotted on this test mule include a single-piece grab rail, front disc brake, and a large single-piece seat with a generous amount of cushioning.

Coming to the powertrain setup, Ather's upcoming family-friendly electric scooter is expected to sport the same powertrain setup as the company's existing range of electric scooters. However, we expect features to be similar to the lower-spec Ather 450S electric scooters to keep the price attractive.

When launched, we expect this new electric scooter from Ather Energy to directly rival the TVS iQube range of electric scooters. This is a major market for Ather Energy as the TVS iQube has been doing pretty well for itself in the EV segment.

In addition to that, Ather CEO has also confirmed that they are working on an evolution of the 450 range of electric scooters. As such, we expect the upcoming Ather 450 electric scooter to come with a more efficient powertrain, a bigger battery pack and larger underseat storage as well.

Thoughts About Ather's New Family Electric Scooter & 450 Evolution

With the launch of Ather's new family-friendly electric scooter, we expect the EV maker to tap into an EV segment with huge potential. Furthermore, we expect the upcoming new 450 range of Ather electric scooters to offer more range and better practicality as well.
