Ather Announces Updates For 450 Lineup On Community Day - AtherStack 5.0, New Colours & Seat

Bangalore-based EV manufacturer Ather Energy today announced a host of updates for its 450 lineup of electric scooters at its Community Day event in Bangalore.

The updates to the Ather 450 lineup include software upgrades including AtherStack 5.0 along with a host of new features, 4 new colour options, a more comfortable seat and an industry-first 5-year battery warranty with a performance guarantee.

AtherStack 5.0 marks the biggest upgrade to the software engine that powers the 450 lineup of electric scooters. AtherStack 5.0 powers a brand-new user interface for the dashboard displays of the 450X and 450 Plus scooters.

The interface for these displays is now even more intuitive with swipe controls. Also seen are new ride animations for power usage and consumption in different modes along with quick controls that allow owners to easily adjust settings such as brightness or turn off incoming call notifications with a single tap. The new quick view section, accessible through just a swipe, provides a centralised location for dashboard notifications and important information such as tyre pressure.

The other big software upgrade comes in the form of an updated Google Maps setup. Ather is currently the only scooter in the world providing onboard navigation powered by Google.

With AtherStack 5.0, the new UI now features Vector Maps which gives you a very similar experience to what you would get on your phones while using Google Maps. The updated Google Maps also brings with it live traffic and a navigation view showing the rider's perspective.

The other major feature update comes in the form of AutoHold, Ather's version of Hill Hold, which uses sensors and algorithms to stop the scooters in place even on very sharp inclines.

Ather also announced Battery Protect, which extends the battery warranty to 5 years/ 60,000km. Battery Protect covers battery failures and also guarantees a minimum of 70% state-of-health for the battery at the end of 5 years. Battery Protect now comes as standard on the 450X (3 + 2 years) while 450 Plus owners can buy the additional 2-year warranty for just Rs 6,999.

Ather also introduced 4 new colours for its scooter lineup, True Red, Cosmic Black (inspired by Ather Series 1 limited edition), Salt Green (which replaces the green that was available before) and Lunar Grey. The other 2 colour options Space Grey and White remain.

Ather has also listened to its customers and introduced a new seat option that is now narrower in the front, flatter in the middle, steeper at the back, and has a thicker throughput. The seat is backwards compatible with all generations of the 450.

Finally, Ather introduced Neighborhood Charging which provides access to charging points in shared private spaces such as apartment complexes and office buildings and can be used to charge any EV at a rate of 3.3kW.
