Ather 450S Electric Scooter Launched In India At Rs 1.30 Lakh – Two More Variants Introduced
Ather Energy launched the new Ather 450S electric scooter in India at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with this, Ather Energy also introduced the two improved variants of the Ather 450X range of electric scooters.
Starting with the Ather 450S, this new electric scooter comes equipped with a smaller 2.9kWh battery pack. However, the certified range is decent at 115 kilometres and the performance figures are almost similar to the range-topping Ather 450X.
In terms of performance numbers, the newly launched Ather 450S can accelerate to 40km/h in just 3.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 90km/h. In fact, the electric motor is similar to that in the Ather 450X electric scooter.
One of the most talked about changes in the Ather 450S is its new DeepView display. This is basically a very power-efficient segmented display which Ather claims to have 20X higher contrast and 4X more segments than any other segmented display.
Thanks to this new display, the Ather 450S no longer enjoys touch-based controls. As such, the menus are now navigated using a new 5-way switch. That being said, the 450S electric scooter is not a Spartan either.
In fact, the new Ather 450S comes with features such as turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, multiple ride modes, park assist, auto hold, fall safe, coasting regen, emergency stop signal (ESS) and much more.
Coming to the Ather 450X, the company has made some changes to the switchgear to make it more ergonomic. Also, the EV maker introduced a new lower-spec Ather 450X electric scooter with a smaller 2.9kWh battery pack.
With the smaller battery pack, the certified range has now come to just 111 kilometres. In comparison, the Ather 450X with the larger 3.7kWh battery pack comes with a certified range of 150 kilometres.
That being said, there is no difference in terms of performance figures as both variants of the Ather 450X electric scooter can attain a top speed of 90km/h, and are capable of sprinting to 40km/h in just 3.3 seconds.
In terms of pricing, the new Ather 450X electric scooter range now starts at Rs 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the more premium 450X variant lot more affordable as well.
Thoughts About The New Ather 450S & 450X Electric Scooters
With the launch of the new more affordable base variants, Ather Energy will be able to attract more customers, which could help the EV maker improve the overall sales figures in the coming months.
