Yezdi Roadster Launched In India At Rs 1.98 Lakh — Iconic Roadking Design Returns?
Yezdi Roadster Launched In India at a starting price of Rs 1.98 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. With this, Yezdi has made its much-awaited comeback in the Indian market. The Roadster is the entry-level model in the Yezdi lineup and closely resembles the old Yezdi Roadking from the 80s and 90s.
There was something about the Yezdi motorcycles of the past that set them apart from all the other motorcycles in the Indian market back then. Was it the iconic sound produced by the exhaust or the design, or even the kicker and gear lever being combined into one? One can't really put a finger on what made those motorcycles iconic.
The point is, the Yezdi Roadking and other variants of it were iconic motorcycles and still remain cult icons. Now with the Yezdi brand back in business, the new Yezdi Roadster is the one that closely resembles the old Roadking. Let's take a closer look at the Yezdi Roadster.
Yezdi Roadster Design
The design inspiration for the new Yezdi Roadster is quite obviously its predecessor, the Yezdi Roadking. So, it gets a circular headlamp up front, the fork has a higher degree of rake and the handlebar is more upward-canted. It is quite obvious that the designers were trying to replicate the riding position of the old Roadking.
Then comes the fuel tank, and this is the part that almost seems like it has been lifted off the old Roadking. With its rounded-off edges and voluptuous design, it bears striking resemblance to the fuel tank of its predecessors. The rest of the motorcycle is more modern with a retro touch to it.
The headlamp does look a little too small and the radiator for the engine's liquid-cooling looks pretty large. The engine has been shaped to resemble the old two-stroke engine and even though it is a liquid-cooled engine, the cylinder features cooling fins to make it look more retro. The single-piece seat, combined with the backrest does look comfortable and supportive.
Yezdi Roadster Features
The Yezdi Roadster features a digital instrument cluster. It is a circular LCD unit that looks stylish and displays a lot of information. This includes the trip meters, distance-to-empty readout, gear indicator, speedometer, odometer, tachometer, etc.
It is surrounded by tell-tale lights and indicators and even displays the ABS mode. The motorcycle comes with a dual-channel ABS as standard equipment. The Yezdi Roadster is also equipped with a USB Type-A and Type-C mobile phone charging socket.
Yezdi Roadster Engine & Performance
The Yezdi Roadster, like the other two Yezdi motorcycles, derives its engine from the Jawa Perak. It is a liquid-cooled, 334cc, single-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power output of 29.3bhp and a peak torque output of 29Nm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel.
Yezdi Roadster Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is taken care of by a 320mm disc up front and a 240mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle rides on an 18-inch wheel up front shod with a 100/90 section tubeless tyre. At the rear is a 17-inch wheel shod with a 130/80 section tyre. It weighs in at 184 kgs and the fuel tank has a capacity of 12.5 litres.

Thoughts On Yezdi Roadster Being Launched In India
The Yezdi Roadster is a motorcycle that harks back to the legendary Yezdi Roadking. One look at the Roadster is bound to remind you of the Roadking, and with that, Yezdi's comeback is already a success. Will it give riders the thrill like the motorcycles of yore, is something that remains to be seen.
