Upcoming Electric Scooter, River EV Spied Testing – Newcomer Gearing Up To Dethrone Ola & Ather?
Upcoming startup electric two-wheeler manufacturer, River EV is now closer than ever to launching its upcoming electric scooter in India.
That being said, the yet-to-be-named River EV electric scooter has now been spotted testing, and the spy shots reveal a lot of interesting details as well.
Starting with the design, the River EV electric scooter looks very rugged and ready to take on anything. This is despite the fact that the spied River EV electric scooter test mule was almost hidden under the heavy camouflage stickers that covered almost every panel of the electric scooter.
It is also worth mentioning that the design of the upcoming River EV electric scooter reminds us a lot about the Yamaha Neo-based electric scooter, especially from the front with its large apron-mounted, squarish twin-pod headlights and boxy body panels. However, there are more than enough differences to comfortably distinguish the River EV electric scooter from Yamaha's Neo-based electric scooter.
A few of such design differences include the usage of a more utilitarian yet rugged-looking side profile and a completely new rear section that reminds little about the TVS iQube electric scooter and Ola electric scooter. Furthermore, the upcoming River EV electric scooter comes with an exposed digital instrument cluster and a flat footboard.
Speaking about River EV, the startup electric two-wheeler company was founded back in 2020 by Mr Aravind Mani and Mr Vipin George. Moreover, the company was backed by Maniv Mobility and TrucksVC with an investment of $2 million. On top of that, the company is run by a team of people who come from established companies such as Ather, Bosch, Honda, Ultraviolette and Vespa.
In fact, Mr Aravind Mani used to be the Vice President of business strategy at Ultraviolette and also has significant experience in the petrochemicals industry. On the other hand, Mr Vipin George has worked at Honda R&D in India for more than 8 years, and most recently he worked as a design lead at Ultraviolette.
According to reports, the co-founders came up with the idea of "multi-utility" electric scooters that will be made available with different battery pack options. Moreover, depending upon the size of the battery pack, the user will be able to travel up to 180 kilometres on a full charge and carry up to 200kg of payload. It is also said that the upcoming River EV electric scooter will be able to reach 40km/h in just 4 seconds and hit a top speed of 80km/h.

Analysing the upcoming River EV, the electric scooter does look very promising and the speculated specifications are right up there with the established electric scooters from the likes of Ola Electric and Ather Energy. That being said, River EV electric scooter will be filling in a category where it will appeal more to consumers involved in the commercial sector.
