Two Wheeler Sales In September 2022 - More Than 12% YoY Growth Achieved
Indian two-wheeler segment has witnessed more than 12 per cent YoY sales growth in September 2022 as it managed to sell a total of almost 16.5 lakh two-wheelers in the country, which is more than 1.78 lakh two-wheelers more than what the segment previously had achieved in September 2021. Moreover, MoM sales figures also improved by 11.8 per cent as the total sales in the segment stood slightly more than 1.74 lakh units in August 2022.
Diving into details, Hero MotoCorp continues to be the dominant player in the Indian two-wheeler segment. In September 2022, Hero MotoCorp sold 5,07,690 units of its two-wheelers, resulting in a YoY sales increase of 0.4 per cent as the company had sold 5,05,462 units in September 2021. On the other hand, MoM sales figures improved by almost 13 per cent as the company sold just 4,50,740 units in August 2022.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) takes the second spot as the two-wheeler manufacturer managed to sell 4,88,924 units of its motorcycles and scooters in September 2022. Thanks to this solid sales performance, YoY and MoM sales figures improved by 5.4 and 15.5 per cent, respectively. In terms of numbers, HMSI managed to sell 4,63,683 units in September 2021 and 4,23,216 units in August 2022.

TVS took a distant third spot by managing to sell 2,83,878 units of its two-wheelers in September 2022, as a result, the YoY sales figure improved by more than 16 per cent. On the other hand, the MoM sales figures improved by almost 19 per cent as the company managed to sell just 2,39,325 units of its two-wheelers in August 2022.

Though Bajaj used to be one of the biggest two-wheeler manufacturers in India, its market share has taken a serious hit in the recent decade due to the lack of conventional scooters in its product lineup. Moreover, it is the only two-wheeler manufacturer in this list have witnessed a decline in MoM sales figures at 4.6 per cent. However, YoY sales figures have improved by more than 28 per cent as the company managed to sell 2,22,912 units in September 2022.
Royal Enfield witnessed a tremendous YoY growth at 170 per cent as the company managed to sell 73,646 units in September 2022. Moreover, MoM sales also improved by more than 17 per cent as the company managed to sell 62,892 units in August 2022.
Suzuki also witnessed a decent YoY sales growth at little more than 27 per cent as the company managed to sell 72,012 units of its two-wheelers in September 2022. Moreover, MoM sales also improved by more than 11 per cent as the company managed to sell 64,654 units in August 2022.
Thoughts About Indian Two Wheeler Sales In September 2022
The Indian two-wheeler market seems to be getting stronger and the September month is no exception as almost all two-wheeler manufacturers witnessed positive YoY and MoM sales growth in the country.
