Top 5 Motorcycle Brands In March 2022: Hero MotoCorp Leads The Way
Two-wheeler sales have been stagnant for quite some time now as the pandemic-related difficulties continue to bottle-neck the two-wheeler market in India. Moreover, the dip in motorcycle sales can be clearly seen in the YoY sales figures.

Though, the four-wheeler market in India is on course to a full recovery, the two-wheeler market still seems to be tangled with pandemic-related market constraints.

We are not sure whether it's the economy of the country or the rising fuel prices that is holding back the growth of the two-wheeler segment in India, but in general, every segment of the two-wheeler market has been dull for a while now.

Hero MotoCorp (4,15,764 units)
Hero MotoCorp sold 4,15,764 units of its motorcycles and scooters in March 2022. Though this is a remarkable sales number, the Indian automobile giant witnessed a YoY sales decline of more than 23 per cent as the company managed to sell 5,44,340 units of two-wheelers during the same time last year.

However, Hero MotoCorp has registered a fabulous 25.4 per cent MoM growth rate as the company sold just 3,31,462 units of two-wheelers a month before that.

Honda (3,09,549 units)
Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India had a pretty remarkable journey in India. However, thanks to the recent pandemic, the Japanese automaker is yet to make a full recovery and the YoY sales have dipped by more than 21 per cent as the company could only sell 3,09,549 units of two-wheelers in March 2022.

In comparison, HMSI had sold 3,95,037 units in March 2022 - A difference of 85,488 units. However, the MoM sales have improved by 8 per cent as the company could manage to sell 2,85,677 units in February 2022.

TVS Motors (1,96,956 units)
Though TVS Motor has come a long way and it is the third biggest two-wheeler manufacturer in India, YoY sales have taken a slight hit at 2.57 per cent as the company managed to sell just 1,96,956 units of scooters and motorcycles in March 2022.

In comparison, TVS sold 2,02,155 units last year during the same time and 1,73,198 units the month before. This means the MoM sales of TVS two-wheelers have improved by more than 13 per cent.

Bajaj (1,07,081 units)
Bajaj once used to be a dominant player in the two-wheeler segment, but the lack of gearless scooters in Bajaj's product portfolio has pushed the automaker to the fourth spot for quite some time now.

Moreover, YoY sales for Bajaj is down by more than 40 per cent as the company could only manage to sell 1,07,081 units in March 2022. In comparison, Bajaj sold 1,81,393 units of motorcycles in March 2021. However, like other brands in this list, MoM sales have improved by 10,558 units.

Royal Enfield (58,477 units)
Though 58,477 units may sound like a small number, all motorcycles sold by Royal Enfield is above the 350cc category. In comparison, YoY sales for Royal Enfield has dipped by just 2.8 per cent as the company managed to sell 58,477 units in March 2022.

Moreover, MoM sales have improved by more than 12 per cent as the company managed to sell 6,342 units more in March 2022.

Thoughts About Two-Wheeler Sales In March 2022
Analysing the sales trend, the Indian two-wheeler market is yet to recover fully. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that the sales of Bajaj motorcycles has hit the most in terms of YoY sales and we believe this could be the lack of conventional scooters in Bajaj's product portfolio.
