Top 10 Two Wheelers In August 2022 - Hero Splendor Continues To Dominate
The Indian two-wheeler market is growing post the pandemic and a majority of the two-wheelers in the top 10 list have shown positive YoY sales growth for the month of August.
Hero Splendor (2,86,007 units)
The Hero Splendor has always been one of the best-selling two-wheelers in India. Despite being in the Indian two-wheeler market since 1994 with minimal changes, the 100cc motorcycle still dominates the two-wheeler market.
In August 2022, Hero MotoCorp sold 2,86,007 units of Hero Splendor motorcycles in the country. As a result, the YoY sales figures also went up by more than 18 per cent.

Honda Activa (2,21,143 units)
The Honda revolutionised the Indian scooter segment with the Activa. Moreover, the Honda Activa quickly and consistently gained traction in the Indian market with its bullet-proof reliability, smooth engine and no-gear riding experience.
At present, the Honda Activa scooter is in its 6th generation in the country and the 110cc scooter still continues to be a dominant force in the Indian two-wheeler market. In August 2022, Honda sold 2,21,143 units of Honda Activa scooters in India, resulting in YoY growth of more than 8 per cent.
Honda CB Shine (1,20,139 units)
The Honda CB Shine continues to be the best-selling 125cc motorcycle in India and a consistent performer for Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. In August 2022, Honda sold 1,20,139 units of CB Shine motorcycles in India.
Though a decent number, YoY sales performance has dipped by almost 8 per cent as the company managed to sell 9,787 units more in August 2021.
Bajaj Platina (99,987 units)
Bajaj Platina is a motorcycle renowned for its fuel efficiency. In recent times, thanks to the high fuel prices, the sales of Bajaj Platina have seen decent growth as the company manages to sell 13 units short of the 1 lakh mark in August 2022.
Such a remarkable sales performance has resulted in a YoY sales increase of almost 77 per cent for the Bajaj Platina motorcycle.
Bajaj Pulsar (97,135 units)
The Bajaj Pulsar is among the most iconic motorcycles in the Indian automobile market. At present, the Bajaj Pulsar range starts from the 125cc segment and goes all the way up to the 250cc segment.
In August 2022, Bajaj sold 97,135 units of the Bajaj Pulsar range of motorcycles in India, resulting in a YoY sales increase of almost 47 per cent.
Hero HF Deluxe (72,224 units)
The Hero HF Deluxe is among the most affordable motorcycles in the country and a go-to motorcycle in rural parts of India. The motorcycle offers solid reliability and comes with a proven track record.
In August 2022, Hero MotoCorp sold 72,224 units of Hero HF Deluxe motorcycles in India. However, the YoY sales performance of the motorcycle has dipped by almost 37 per cent as the company managed to sell 1,14,575 units in August 2021.
TVS Jupiter (70,075 units)
The TVS Jupiter slowly yet consistently gained the market share in the Indian scooter segment, and the scooter is now the best-selling model in TVS' entire product portfolio.
In August 2022, TVS sold 70,075 units of Jupiter scooters and the YoY sales increased by more than 53 per cent. We expect these figures to increase in the coming months as well.
TVS Apache (40,522 units)
The TVS Apache range of motorcycles has always been a consistent seller for the automaker in India. In August 2022, TVS managed to sell 40,520 units of Apache motorcycles in India.
Such sales performance has not only resulted in Apache's entry into the 'Top 10' list, but the YoY sales figure has improved by more than 146 per cent - The highest in the list by a large margin.
Suzuki Access (40,375 units)
The Suzuki Access is a practical and a peppy 125cc scooter. Moreover, the Suzuki Access is well-known for its strong acceleration and it is a favourite among many youngsters in India despite its slightly reserved styling.
In August 2022, Suzuki sold 40,375 units of Access scooters in India. However, the YoY sales figures dipped by 18 per cent.
TVS XL 100 (36,489 units)
The TVS XL 100 is a gearless moped and the success of the TVS XL range of mopeds can be credited to its utilitarian nature. Moreover, this moped can be considered the backbone for many micro-businesses in India.
In August 2022, TVS sold 36,489 units of TVS XL 100 mopeds in India. However, the YoY sales figures dipped by more than 30 per cent.
Thoughts About Top 10 Two Wheelers In August 2022
Taking the average, the YoY sales of the top 10 motorcycles in August 2022 increased by more than 10 per cent. These numbers are very promising, and we expect the sales figures to go further up in the coming months.
