The Suzuki GSX-8S is powered by an all-new 776cc double overhead camshaft, parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank. The new engine on the GSX-8S produces 81.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm at 6,800rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission with a slipper/assist clutch which can be optioned with a bi-directional quickshifter.

The new Suzuki GSX-8S, which can also be found on the new V-Strom 800DE, features an all-new double countershaft balancing system, the first time such a system has been used on a production motorcycle. Dubbed, Suzuki Cross Balancer, this system helps eliminate vibrations from the new parallel twin engine.

The Suzuki GSX-8S features a unique stubby 2-into-1 exhaust system that allows the owner to hear the bark of the parallel-twin engine. The exhaust also features a two-stage catalytic converter to help the new GSX-8S meet stricter emission standards.

The all-new Suzuki GSX-8S features a ride-by-wire electronic throttle, that allows it to offer three riding modes - Active, Basic and Comfort - with different engine maps that vary power delivery to suit road conditions and riding preferences.

In Active mode, the GSX-8S delivers the sharpest throttle response as you open the throttle and is for riders looking to take some sharpy and twisty canyon roads. Basic mode offers a smoother response at low and mid-range and is ideal for touring. Comfort mode offers an even softer throttle response and is ideal for riding in the rain or with a passenger sitting behind.

The Suzuki GSX-8S also features Suzuki Traction Control System to help prevent rear wheel skidding. There are three modes to choose from including one that switches it off completely.

The all-new GSX-8S features a rigid new steel frame suspended by a KYB inverted fork with a 130mm stroke at the front and an adjustable KYB mono-shock at the rear. The Suzuki GSX-8S rides on lightweight 17-inch cast aluminium wheels shod with Dunlop SPORTMAX Roadsport 2 tyres (120/70ZR17 at the front; 180/55ZR17 at the rear). Braking duties on the new Suzuki GSX-8S are handled by dual 310mm discs at the front and a single 240mm disc at the rear.

The Suzuki GSX-8S features a very sharp design that looks quite futuristic with the vertically stacked hexagonal pair of LED headlights at the front. The cowl surrounding the headlights features position lights that are also LED units. The rear combination lights are also full LED units and feature an integrated rear license plate light.

The Suzuki GSX-8S also sports a custom 5-inch colour TFT LCD multifunction instrument panel that keeps you fully aware of all the bike's systems and settings in real-time and also adds a function that lets you display large pop-up alerts and warnings. This display can switch between day and night modes manually or automatically depending on your preference.

Thoughts About The Suzuki GSX-8S

The Suzuki GSX-8S is one of the two warning shots fired by the Japanese bike manufacturer at its rivals at EICMA this year. With the new GSX-8S, Suzuki is looking to shake up the middleweight naked segment and at first glance, it sure looks like they're set to succeed.
