Indian motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has launched the all-new Hunter 350 in India. Prices for the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 start at Rs 1,49,900 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).
Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Specifications
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is powered by the marque's J Platform fuel injected 349cc, single cylinder engine that produces 20.2bhp at 6,100rpm and 27Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm.
The Hunter 350's engine revs to 7,000rpm and is paired to a 5-speed gearbox that sends power to the rear wheel via chain drive. Royal Enfield claims that the Hunter 350 features different mapping for ignition and fuel compared to the Meteor 350 and the marque claims the bike is a bit more characterful to ride (more on that in our review due on the 10th of August). The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has a top speed of 114km/h.
The big talking point about the new Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is its weight. The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 weighs 181 kilogrammes which is 10 kilos lighter than the Meteor 350 and 14kgs lighter than the Classic 350. This weight saving has been achieved through quite a few tweaks to the Hunter 350's frame along with the addition of the new set of alloy wheels (available only on the higher-spec variants) and the usage of more plastic bits.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 sports a twin downtube spine frame setup with 41mm telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear with 6-steps of adjustable preload. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with - 110/70-17 54P (front) and 140/70 - 17 - 66P(rear) tubeless tyres (the entry-level-model sports spoked wheels with tubed tyres). The wheelbase of the Hunter 350 is 1,370mm while the seat rides 800mm above the ground.
Braking duties on the Hunter 350 are handled by a 300mm fixed disc with twin piston floating calliper and a 270mm disc at the rear with a single piston floating calliper (the lower-spec variant gets a drum brake at the rear). The Metro variant of the Hunter gets dual-channel ABS while the Retro model gets single-channel ABS.
Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Design & Features
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is intended to be a roadster and features a very familiar design. At the front, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 sports circular headlamp and turn signals along with a circular semi-digital speedometer console. The tripper display is an optional extra for the new Hunter 350, no matter which variant you opt for.
The teardrop-shaped fuel tank features creases on the sides while the side panel with the new Hunter 350 logo is brand new as well. The engine is blacked out as is the exhaust. The bike features more aggressively placed footpegs and a single stepped seat. Also seen is a split grab rail setup along with circular LED taillights and turn indicators.
Thoughts About The Royal Enfield Hunter 350
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 sees the Chennai-based marque target a new audience with a peppy bike that promises to offer quite a different riding experience. For more details, stay tuned for our review - out August 10th.
