Okinawa Okhi 90 Electric Scooter Teased Again — Here's Everything You Need To Know

Okinawa Autotech is well known for its lineup of electric scooters which deliver high range figures of up to 139 kilometres per charge while travelling at a max speed of 58km/h. However, the Okhi 90 will be a gamechanger in the Okinawa electric scooter lineup and will feature a top speed of 90km/h allowing it to compete with rivals from the likes Aether, TVS and Ola when it comes to speed.

The Okinawa Autotech Okhi 90's range figures have not yet been officially released by the manufacturer. However, reports suggest that the Okinawa Okhi 90 will tout a range of around 200 kilometres on a single charge when it hits the streets on the 24th of March. The Okinawa Okhi 90 will also support fast charging with its lithium-ion battery pack expected to recuperate around 80 per cent of its juice after being plugged in for an hour. While battery swapping still hasn't been confirmed, the Okhi 90 like its older siblings, is expected to feature a removable battery pack that owners can just pull out and charge at home.

Other teasers of the Okinawa Ohki 90 have revealed the electric scooter's design. Recent teaser images of the Okhi 90 reveal a conventional design for the front end of the scooter.

The latest teaser image of the headlight design shows a large LED headlamp unit that is mounted quite conventionally. The teaser image also shows what appear to be large LED daytime running lights mounted vertically on either side of the front apron. Okinawa Autotech has in the recent past also revealed that the Okhi 90 electric scooter will feature LED turn indicators.

The Okinawa Okhi 90 has been caught testing multiple times by the automotive paparazzi and these images have revealed a scooter with a very conventional design. The Okinawa Okhi 90 sports alloy wheels and disc brakes on both ends while the motor appears to be mid-mounted, driving the rear wheel via chain drive. The spy images also revealed that the Okhi 90 will feature front forks up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. This will help the electric scooter handle the rough and tumble roads of our country. Other features spied include a sleek LED taillight and a thick wraparound grab handle for the rear passenger.

The Okinawa Okhi 90 is also expected to feature the latest connected tech through an app. The scooter is expected to feature a fully digital display and could come with features like geo-fencing, vehicle alerts and turn by turn navigation.

The Okhi 90 will be manufactured at Okinawa Autotech's new facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The new facility currently has a manufacturing capacity of 3 lakh units per year. Okinawa will expand the manufacturing capacity of the plant to 1 million units per year in the next 2-3 years. At full capacity, the new plant will manufacture five times the number of electric vehicles that its original factory in Alwar currently produces.

The Okinawa Okhi 90 will see the EV manufacturer step up to take on the likes of TVS, Aether and Ola Electric. The Okhi 90 promises to deliver quite a bit but its price, which will be revealed on the 24th of March, will determine whether it can take on the more established players in the high-speed electric scooter segment.
