New TVS iQube Vs Ola S1 Pro Vs Ather 450X
TVS recently took the wraps off the 2022 iteration of the TVS iQube electric scooter and we are going to compare it against its rivals, the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X.
In this comparison, all three electric scooters are very closely matched and come packed to the brim with many features.
Design
'Design' has always been a very subjective matter and there are no clear winners here in this comparison. However, for the sake of comparison, it must be said that the Ather electric scooter looks the most sophisticated and futuristic with its clean and crisp lines.
Apart from that, the sharp and tall front fascia of the Ather neatly integrates with the LED headlamps giving it a very sporty character. This sporty design is further accentuated by the presence of an exposed aluminium frame under the seat.
TVS iQube ST on the other hand looks quite conventional next to the Ather electric scooter, but TVS has done a remarkable job to help it stand out from the crowd with new colour options.
Finally, the Ola S1 Pro also looks remarkably futuristic with its clean and minimalist styling. Moreover, the Ola S1 Pro is available in a wide range of colour options.
Powertrain
Ather Energy currently sells two models in India. The base version is the Ather 450 Plus and it is powered by a 5.4kW electric motor. On the other hand, the Ather 450X uses a more powerful 6kW electric motor.
Both the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooters are powered by a 5.5kW electric motor. However, the Ola S1 Pro comes with a few minor tweaks in the software to make it perform better.
Though the 2022 TVS iQube continues to be powered by the tried-and-tested 4.4kW electric motor, TVS now offers 3 different variants - iQube, iQube S, and iQube ST.
Batter Capacity & Range
The Ather 450 Plus features a usable battery size of 2.4kWh, which gives the electric scooter a real-world range of 70km on a full charge. On the other hand, the Ather 450X comes packed with a slightly more usable 2.9kWh battery.
This larger battery pack enables the 450X to travel 85km on a full charge. However, the ARAI rated range of the Ather 450X is 116km per full charge.
The Ola S1 comes packed with a 2.98kWh battery pack which is good for a claimed range of 121kms. The Ola S1 Pro comes with an ARAI certified range of 181km. However, the true range of the EV according to Ola Electric is 135km.
The new TVS iQube and iQube S sport a 3.4kWh battery pack and the manufacturer claims that this set-up enables these electric scooters to cover 100km. The TVS iQube ST on the other hand sports a class-leading 5.1kWh battery pack and the company claims it can do 140km on a full charge.
Charging
The Ather 450 Plus can charge at a rate of 10 minutes for 10km of range till the battery reaches 80 per cent capacity, whereas the Ather 450X can charge at a rate of 10 minutes for 15km range up to 80 per cent capacity.
TVS is allowing its customers to choose three different chargers for its iQube electric scooter - 650W, 950W, and 1.5kW chargers. According to TVS, the 1.5kW charger takes just 2 hours and 30 minutes to charge the battery to its full capacity.
The Ola S1 takes 4 hours and 48 minutes to charge to its full capacity, whereas the Ola S1 Pro takes 6 hours and 30 minutes to achieve a similar feat.
Features
The Ather 450X comes with a large 7-inch touchscreen instrument that uses an Andriod-based OS, 22-litres of under-seat storage, telescopic front suspension, 12-inch wheels, Google maps, reverse mode and many more. Apart from this, the Ather electric scooters also come with LED headlamps, LED taillamps and LED turn indicators.
Like most electric scooters in the market, the TVS iQube also comes packed to the brim with features. This includes features such as LED headlamps, TVS SmartXonnect connectivity with App-based interaction, telescopic front suspension, front disc brakes, keyless unlocking, social media notifications, Alexa-enabled voice assistance, LED tail lamps, a 7-inch TFT touchscreen display, multiple ride modes, reverse mode, and many more.
Finally, the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooters also come with a wide variety of features which included features such as keyless app-based access, disc brakes, telescopic front suspension, LED headlights, digital instrument cluster, cloud connectivity, alloy wheels, and many more.
Thoughts About Electric Scooters From TVS, Ola & Ather
While all the above electric scooters are fantastic products from their respective manufacturers, both TVS and Ola Electric offer a superior range compared to the Ather. However, Ather will soon launch two new variants of its electric scooter and we hope new models come with added range.
