The specifications of the upcoming motorcycle reveal figures and other features which make it quite obvious that Kawasaki is looking at a bare basics motorcycle that can bring in larges sales numbers.

Kawasaki is one of the most well-known motorcycle manufacturers in the world. It is most known for motorcycles like the ZX-6R, ZX-10R, ZX-12R, ZX-14R, H2R, etc. The motorcycles are those that have redefined their respective segments with brilliant performance. These are fast and expensive machines.

However, a little peak into the history of Kawasaki will reveal that the brand has always had a strong lineup of basic motorcycles that are accessible to even common buyers. Kawasaki entered the Indian market through a partnership with Bajaj in 1984.

Kawasaki and Bajaj together produced motorcycles like the KB100, 4S Champion, KB125, Boxer, Caliber, etc. These motorcycles were not high-performance monsters, but they certainly helped users get a feel of what owning a Kawasaki was like, and they certainly had bulletproof reliability.

Now, After several years of retailing only high-performance motorcycles, Kawasaki is all set to get back to the bare basics. Kawasaki seems all set to launch the W175 retro motorcycle in the Indian market. Ahead of its launch, the brochure for the motorcycle has been leaked.

The Kawasaki W175 will be offered with two colour options -Ebony and Special Edition Red. There is no fancy equipment on the motorcycle. Even the lighting and instrumentation is pretty basic. Halogen headlamps, halogen indicators, halogen turn signal indicators, analogue speedometer, analogue odometer, analogue trip meter are some of the features found on the Kawasaki W175.

In terms of the design, the Kawasaki W175 gets a circular headlamp up front, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a single-piece seat, etc. The tank gets the W logo, and the plastic panel on the side gets the Kawasaki decal. The engine too looks basic, and the exhaust looks like a proper old-school unit.

The Kawasaki W175 is powered by an air-cooled, 177cc, single-cylinder engine that puts out 13bhp at 7,500rpm and 13.2Nm at 6,000rpm. A 5-speed gearbox handles transmission duties. It does look like the motorcycle might not be able to do much with these numbers. However, with a kerb weight of just 135 kilograms, the W175 certainly looks very entertaining.

The motorcycle rides on spoked wheels shod with tubed tyres. Braking is taken care of by a drum brake at the rear and a disc brake at the front. Suspension duties are handled by a basic telescopic suspension up front and twin shocks at the rear.

The Kawasaki W175 doesn't have any direct competition at the moment. However, it will compete with the likes of the Yamaha FZ-X, TVS Ronin, and even the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 to an extent. Kawasaki will be looking at producing the motorcycle locally and the launch of the W175 will take place at the end of September 2022.

Thoughts On Kawasaki W175 Specs, Colours & Other Details Being Leaked

Going by the specifications, the Kawasaki W175 certainly looks like a fun little motorcycle. It is certainly very different compared to the rest of the motorcycle Kawasaki has on sale at the moment and that is what makes it unique. We do think the W175 will draw loads of buyers to Kawasaki dealerships if priced right. For now, all eyes and ears are on the launch event for the prices.
