Jindal Mobilitric Acquires Earth Energy EV; Plans To Set Up New Manufacturing Plant
Jindal Worldwide has acquired electric two-wheeler manufacturer Earth Energy EV. The company now plans to set up an EV manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad. Earth Energy EV's product plans for the future remain intact and the three electric two-wheeler launches will go ahead as planned.
Jindal Worldwide is the leader in the Indian textile industry and is one of the largest exporters of textiles in India. In order to enter the EV industry, the brand set up a subsidiary by the name of Jindal Mobilitric. Now, Jindal Mobilitric has taken Mumbai-based EV startup Earth Energy EV under its wings and intends to take things to the next level.
Earth Energy EV is one of the most promising electric two-wheeler startups in the Indian market. The brand has so far revealed three electric two-wheelers. The Glyde SX e-scooter is the one that's closest to production and pre-bookings for the same are currently open.
The other two EVs are motorcycles named the EvolveZ and EvolveR. The former is a street/naked motorcycle while the latter is a cruiser. These two electric motorcycles certainly look great and have huge potential, however, they are quite some time away from hitting the production line.
Ahead of what looks like a bright future, Earth Energy EV has been acquired by Jindal Mobilitric. EV developmental operations will continue at the brand's facility in Mumbai. However, to supplement the development with a larger production capacity, Jindal will be setting up a manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad.
Quite obviously, the first EV to go into production at the new plant will be the Glyde SX scooter. The other two products are expected to be produced at the same plant eventually.
Rushii Senghani, CEO and Founder of Earth Energy EV was quoted as saying, "Our vehicles have been put through 7 lakh testing hours and the confidence shown in us is commendable as we work together to build the Indian EV infrastructure that is a reliable and efficient modern scooter made for the modern commuter."
Earth Energy has already appointed distributors in 10 Indian states - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. All of these distributors will be retained by Jindal Mobilitric and expansion plans are already in place.
Thoughts On Jindal Mobilitric Acquiring Earth Energy EV
It is no secret that Jindal is an industrial powerhouse and the fact that Jindal is looking at an EV market entry is good news indeed. Earth Energy on the other hand has showcased some interesting concepts and is working towards producing them. Now, with the might of Jindal to back them, the brand can achieve a great big deal. We're quite looking forward to seeing the Glyde SX scooter go into production.
